Is it a fact or speculation? If I head over to a Russian based site, they have a different story. It says, the Turkish aircraft made no radio contact whatsoever and crossed into the Syrian airspace while pursuing the Russian jet.

The thing is, nor you, me or anyone else here can say how it really happened. We are just pawns in a big game.

Yeah, the Russian sources are 100% legit! No seriously, the state owned/controlled Russian news services and bloggers would never spin things to there view now would they.

Apparently we have recording of the warning from the Turks, but that doesn't matter because state sponsored Russian news/blogs say so.

putin was actually on a horse with no shirt in the hills around where this happened and saw it with his own eyes.

The Global Research article from Rational Wiki for what its worth.

Globalresearch (under the domain names globalresearch.ca and globalresearch.org) is the website of the Montreal-based non-profit The Centre for Research on Globalisation (CRG) founded by Michel Chossudovsky,[2][3] a tenured professor at the University of Ottawa.[4] Weep for the future.

While many of Globalresearch's articles discuss legitimate humanitarian or environmental concerns, the site has a strong undercurrent of reality warping throughout its pages. Its view of science, the economy and geopolitics seems to be broadly conspiracist. It's no surprise then that the site has long become a magnet for radicals, fringe figures and whacko elements from the left in general.

Globalresearch may be best described as the moonbat equivalent to WorldNetDaily. Whenever someone makes a remarkable claim and cites Globalresearch, they are almost certainly wrong.
Truly remarkable articles

Turkey supplied weapons to ISIS. US did not bomb ISIS (See how Russia effectively wiped their bases off the map in 2 weeks). SA and Qatar funded ISIS. There are many bad guys in the game.

They are all bad guys in the Middle East, we have no allies there no matter what they say.

If a US plane were shot down by Turkey, do you think FOX/CNN/MSNBC/CBS/NBC/NYT/etc... are going to run the Turkey side of the story, or do you think they will publish whatever the White House tells them to publish?

My guess based on historical precedent: if turkey were to say that they warned the US planes and the White House were to say that no such warning were given, you wouldn't even hear about turkey's "side of the story" at all. US media outlets would pour forth with the govt agenda.

here's a fine example explained in some detail: U.S. Journalists Who Instantly Exonerated Their Government of the Kunduz Hospital Attack, Declaring it an “Accident"

Meh. I probably care more about the Turkmen than the Turkish military. What is important to me is that the Bosphorus stays secure, and that the Kurds, Yazidi, Assyrians, and Tatars are protected and given their due sovereignty. Same with any good Turkmen, and I know there are a lot of Turkmen in Northeastern Iraq. Like I care if the Turkish government falls down right now.

Turkmen are the ones who will most likely pay the price for this. Putin and Erdogan are thugs. Erdogan just made Putin eat shit, so Putin is going to bomb Erdogan's friends and make Erdogan eat it. Turkey is pretty much asking for it by mentioning the Turkmen in their press release. Plus they blew up that helicopter, so Putin has every justification to go to town on them.

They are as good of a source as any. Everybody lies to fit their agenda.

A Turkish jet just obtained an appointment with Russian S-400 as a live target.

Looks like it's on now, if the previous news was true. I have no idea. Too far away from all the action

Some photographs published by Russia’s Ministry of Defense seem to suggest Moscow has just deployed at least one S-400 missile battery to Latakia, to protect the Russian air contingent deployed there.

Although the reports that the next-generation anti-aircraft weapon system was deployed to Syria were denied by the Russian MoD, whether the Russians have really deployed the system to protect their assets at Latakia or not is still subject to debate.
Source.

That "report" was so poorly worded I have very little clue as to what the report was attempting to say. Do you have another source that actually knows how to string a few words together in a coherent way?

But, just to be clear, are you implying that the Turks did NOT warn the Russian aircraft, repeatedly, to not enter Turkish territory? US officials from the Pentagon have stated they had listened in to the entire event so I'd guess we'll have a transcript within the next day or two.

Gotta admit the black humor in NATO perhaps being forced to defend Turkey. A muslim country.

Found this today actually. And no I am not vouching for the validity of this material, but it is a possible reality, and it is something to keep in mind.

I have a $400 phone that can tell me exactly where I am at all of the time, hell I can even set "boundaries" on it and if I get close to one it will warn me. If my shitty cellphone can do that then I expect that a multi-million dollar military warplane designed for precision strikes can do the same.

it's like when you use your $800 phone to call an uber and drop the pin across the street from where you are, instead of where you are.

yeah the precision strike on the hospital was kind of like that.

Serious question, can the Turks defend the Turkmen with their own fighters within the bounds of international law? Not talking about who could beat who or what defenses might be in place, just questioning if they have the "jurisdiction" or whatever you want to call it.
