Turn X800 Pro into X800 XT PE with Bios Flash

Where should I put the X800XT BIOS?

Just flashed my saphire x800pro vivo successfuly using the modified flashrom!
Daemonifuge, you can put it on the floppy.

So I can put it on the bootdisk OR the flashrom disk that I will make? Sorry I'm asking so many questions, I just want to be absolutely clear before I do this.

Oh, only one disk with the alternative method then, eh? I don't know... The method seems safer with the Gigabyte method, but the link doesn't work =[ Eh, I'll wait a bit before I try this.

Are you saying that the Gigabyte mod is safer than the W1zzard's mod?

I just checked my card and to my disappointment, I read Samsung GC20 :frown:

I am still considering trying to flash my BIOS over to the 16 pipelines, but I am wondering what people's experiences with this is? I would make a backup of my original BIOS in case things go bad, but since I am not a real tech saavy person, I'd rather know how others have turned out.

I have a Saphire X800 Pro with Samsung GC20 Memory.

Is it guaranteed NOT to work or do some people have it work and some people have luck? If its guarnteed ot NOT work, then I'll just live with the X800 Pro (great card either way!)

I have heard of it working for some and not for others. You should do some research at Xtremesystems.org, rage3D and overclockers.com forums before risking it. If you try it, make sure to use W1zzard's modified flashrom so that you can flash back to 12 pipes if the mod doesn't fly. Also, you should flash to the ATI bios with 16 pipes but stock x800 pro clocks. Its on W1zzard's bios page, just follow one of the links in this thread.

I was able to get my X800 Pro VIVO to 16pipes using the Gigabyte bios and tool.
However, my card is not stable at XTPE speeds, so I have the X800Pro bios flashed back in, but with 16pipes still enabled running at X800 Pro speeds.
My card does appear to be stable at XT speeds at 500MHz core, so I would like to flash to the XT bios, but not the XTPE bios. I cannot find a plain XT bios on the net. http://www.techpowerup.com/bios/
This site does not have the XT bios, it has XTPE.
Can someone provide a link to a X800XT bios?

i'm confused about one thing. i'm not sure i understand what you guys mean by stable. i posted this before, but i didn't get any reply. this is what i posted earlier :

i tested the card (16p and 520/560) with far cry. i had a fresh unpatched install and started playing right from the start. the tunnel that you go through in the beginning of far cry had some wall-like textures partially blocking it and then some of the crates in one of the cabins inside the carrier had some missing textures. other than that, the game ran smoothly, i played for an hour on very high settings and when i exited to windows, the overdrive panel was reading 63°C (i kept the window open during the game with overdrive disabled). of course, it took maybe a couple seconds to exit from far cry, but i'm sure the temperature never touched 70°C. the card idles at 37°C and this is with stock cooling. btw, i used this bios :

X800 XT PE (AGP) 256 MB - Date compiled : 2004-04-30 17:24

this bios was the exact same file size as my pro vivo. so should i consider the card to be stable or should i still play around with the clocks in order to take care of those textures. thanks for all the help so far guys.

KayGee- By "stable" I mean no artifacts. I found that 3DMark 2005 and Doom 3 are great ways to make sure the card is stable. Your issue of missing textures sounds a little different. Games should look exactly right, with no missing textures. If I had your card I would experiment with lower clocks and maybe even a different bios like the latest ATI XT PE bios. I'm sure you are using the latest driver but if not try it out. And disable VPU recover.

Which BIOS Mod did you use Mega?

Because I succesfully OCd my Sapphire Vivo using the
Tech Power Up Sapphire X800XT PE Bios but only got the 12 pipes open according to ATI Tool 0.0.22.

Am I missing somethign here? Do I need to reinstall any Catalyst Drivers?

Nope. I correclty used the flashrom technique by W1zzard to avoid Gigabytes irreversible 16 pipes, but to no avail. I attempted this with 3 different x800XTPE bin. I am not sure why this is not working and I am stuck at 12 pipelines. I have 1.6 Samsung. The card is VIVO. I do have 520 and 560. I did remove amd drivercleaner with catalyst drivers however, I dont think that will make a difference???

Hey people.

Im really really nervous right now. I got my Powercolor x800pro VIVO a few days back. Yesterday i bios softmodded it using the gigabyte flash and followed the instructions, rebootet my computer and voila, everythinged worked.
The extra four pipelines were added and i ran 3dmark03 and Doom III with success (played doom for about an hour). No artifacts or anything.
So i leave my computer on for the night and now im at work using remotedesktop to my computer at home. Suddenly the computer just restarts and when i look under display properties its like: 'default monitor o n' yeah, on nothing.
So i check device manager and the card shows up just right. I have reinstalled the drivers several times but with no luck. God damn im **** nervous right now but cant try using my backup rom because im at work.

And another thing, i checked the temps right after i played Doom III for an hour and it was under 60 celcius. And when im in Windows its 50 (still is as i can see the temperatur with atitool.)

I guess i can start praying.

Oh yeah! There was nothing wrong. Just a bunch of cirmunstances that made be believe it. Thank god

Yeah, thanks Mega Works. Tell me IYHO, why did you choose Gigabytes over the other mods? I am a little nervous about having the irreversible pipes from what I have read in other posts. One would think that having the 16 vs 12 is a good thing. But if somethign goes wrong, one can't go back.....Aarrggggh

I choosed it because it was the only 16 pipeline bios at the time, well before the W1zzard bios.

i have the elsa card, flashed the card, now have xtpe speed & 16 pipes. my bench marks have all increased, but i cant seem to get 12000 on 3dmark03, only get 11500 & on 3dmark05 i only get 4000. any ideas why not. i have an a8v board, 3500+ athlon 64, 1 gig corsair ram.

Are you using the latest ATI drivers? Have you ran Adaware and Spybot S&D? Done a virus and trojan scan? Any programs running in the background? Are AA and AF set to "application preference"? Do you have the latest chipset drivers? What are your system specs?

dispaly setting set to application preference with the monitor set at 60 mzt at 800 x 600 and 16 bit color
have run adaware se
have run nortons antivirus today, have disabled auto protect when running 3dmark05

have run 3dmark05 version 1.1, highest score i can get is 3978.

any help you or anyone else can give i'd be thankful for.
