Hi all. I can't really figure this out- I've tried google groups and other areas and I can't find why it doesen't work.

Problem:
Pc stopped working- tried to boot and it would just turn on and wouldn't send any signal to monitor. So, bought a new chip and still does the same thing- turns on, fans turn on, kybd lights up- but no signal to monitor using ISA/ PCI/ AGP cards.

Specs: Abit kT7-RAID, Crucial Ram, AMD Thunderbird 1.1ghz 100/200 fsb .
About the cpu: Just bought it. Things on the chip:
A1100AMS3B
ASHA D130UPJW
1999 AMD

I'm hoping it isn't my motherboard- there is a possibility that the mobo got fried.

I have heard a couple issues such as:
---You need a very good power supply for 1.3 and 1.4ghz cpus (such as 430 Watt)- and thus I am thinking I need something better than my 300W Antec Power Supply?
---There is a short on the motherboard, so you need to use rubber washers behind the mounting brackets. I removed the mobo from the case and placed it on a plastic mount and I get the same results.
---Possibly this CPU isn't compatible with my mobo? The KT7-RAID supports Socket A 200fsb Cpu chips, which is what this one is.

---My last idea is this: The last CPU I was using in my system was a Duron 600 that was multiplier unlocked, which I ran at 900mhz, overclocked. Perhaps I need to unlock my new chip because the multiplier is locked?

I'd be really stoked if you'd post any answers. Thanks!

300 is fine for a 1.1 ghz cpu

your bus is at 100 mhz

i doubt you are forcing an overclock on your cpu.

I had one of those mb and it did the same thing to me. Sadly the result was a Dead mb.

Sorry if this is too obvious, but anytime you swap out CPUs you should always clear the CMOS by shorting the MB jumper. It has been more than a few times I thought I had purchased a dead CPU before I remembered to clear the CMOS.

Good luck!

It appears from your symptoms and the results of your parts swapping that the MB has gone bad. Did you Flash the BIOS recently? that would be the only other thing I could think of that could cause/resolve the problem. Most likely you need another MB though.

Thanks for all the tips- I agree with you all. The motherboard is probably bad.

Adul, you are sure 300W is good enough for this cpu? Thats good to know.

MRC4 - yeah, I did reset the cmos, thanks for checking though.

Oh well, thanks guys.
