Yes, the Marketing Department at TB thinks (knows?) that they sell more that way!

They have huge boxes so they're harder to steal. Sure, they could put them in tiny little boxes, they could also put those nice Radeon 9800 Pro's in little boxes the size of the card, but I'm sure a lot more would be stolen if the box was only 6" x 10"... does that make sense?

Box size, I think, is geared more for display than for theft deterrent. Ever notice those anti-theft devices?
They attach 'em to CDs and inside box lids.

I went to CC and they had two left on the self yesterday 09/16. I took one up to the check out counter with the CUSA flyer and asked if they would PM this ? "Not a problem" were the words from the CC CS guy. So I asked if there was a limit on how many I could get? He said no. So I went back and got the other one off the self. Never know when you might need another sound card? He gave me the 110% difference for $35.99 each plus $5.30 in tax. Total of $77.28. But no MIR...
Charged it to my CC card. Got home and downloaded the rebate form from their web-site (thanks for that link). Turns out
It's one purchase per household / person / purchase. So, I've got two purchases on one card / one person/ and one household. I think I'll go back and get another but pay cash this time. Then send it in for my sister or something? I can always return the other one. I guess or maybe keep it for $38.64.... It's still not a bad score. It just seemed like too good of a deal to pass up.

Yeah goofy as heck. One cc says no only 10% off then I go to another in the area and it honors it so after rebates looking at $5.99 for an awesome sound card. Dumb csr and managers at some stores others have good ones, go figure.

Thanks to the OP - picked one up along with Battlefield 1942 today at Southcenter/Tukwila, WA store today (9/19/03). No problems pricematching either one, just bring in the COMPUSA circular. For those still interested, Southcenter had two left on the shelf.

I think I did this deal like 5 times now. Every time I got the card for 5-10 bux. Great deal! And their rebates are fast as hell, anywhere from 4-6 weeks to get it.
