TV-Out Function Does NOT Work on 8500 Retail! Help!

I need this to work by tonight! Please help. I need to tape a powerpoint presentation!!! Please Help. I cannot get the TV Out function to work. ATI Help doesn't help either. I'm using the S-Video to composite video cable/adapter. I'm using the latest drivers, but cannot get it to work!!! Please help!!! Seems like your TV cable is not even connected or is broken. On my laptop it shows both Monitor and TV highlited and and all you got to do is switch it on or off, but in your case there seems to be no connection between PC and TV.

Bump Same problem with a Radeon 64 VIVO.

make sure the tv is on, and the computer connected to the tv before you even try to start the tv out.

also if you are having problems, make sure your desktop is set to 1024 res, even 800 or 640, because tvs only display at the res, and the card has to scale it down. It works for me in those 3 resolutions, never tried anything else.

The card definitely doesn't think the tv is there.


btw how can anyone stand that much clutter on their desktop? I don't even keep that much in my start menu.

the problem is most likely that the radeon is not detecting a 75-ohm load from the TV. If it doesn't detect it then it thinks nothing is connected. Try connecting to a VCR first if you have one, I remember having to do this once with an old TV I had a few years back

I tried my VCR and my TV both with S-Video and Composite out. Any other sugestions.
