sounds like an s-video output and an s-video cable

no s-video in on your tv eh?

you'll need a converter then...something like this

that will convert your s-video to RCA (composite)...and then hopefully you're tv has a composite input (auxiliary input)

search google for "s-video converters" and you'll find lots of places that sell them. the above link sells them for about 20 bucks.

edit: i'm not familiar with that card, because it *may* already have a composite output as well as s-video, in which case you wouldn't need to use the s-video cord.

it's got s-video out...so I would need to buy a s-video converter that converts it to rca? rca is the one where it's got those 3 colored holes...like...white..red...and yellow (or something like that) right? also...while it doesn't relate to video cards...what would I need to buy if I wanted to get the sound from my computer to my receiver where I have a 4 channel sound setup? thanks for the help so far

no problem. let's see here

yeah, RCA is those colored cords, BUT, for s-video, it is a pure video signal (no audio). SO, you would be converting s-video to ONE rca (usually the yellow one). that would be your video source

as far as audio, that's what those other 2 rca cables usually are (white and red usually)

what soundcard do you have? the easiest way to get sound from your computer to a receiver is to buy a simple 1/8 inch male stereo to dual RCA (white and red) adapter. plug the adapter into your speaker out on your sound card, and run the 2 rca cables to an auxiliary input on your reciever. cue up that AUX input on your receiver, and you'll hear sound from the computer

to use the RCA input on the tv (again, assuming you actually HAVE one, which most tv's do these days) you would have to switch the input mode on the tv (i.e. switch from a cable signal over to the RCA input)...this is usually done on the remote with most modern tv's

another choice you have for audi only works if you have a digital out on your soundcard and a digital in on your receiver. if you know you have both of these, let me know and i can give you instructions on how to digitally connect your soundcard to you receiver instead of using the adapter i mentioned above

audio adapters can be gotten at radio shack.

you'd have to call around and ask all those places about s-video to rca adapters...they're not very common

if you don't have a digital output on your soundcard, then the only way to hook it to you receiver is the first method i described, which will work just fine.

ya, you can get stuff at radio shack. you need an s-video to composite cable, and audio cable that fits into ur Line Out on ur onboard sound. and then the audio to composite cable.

Hi, can someone fill me in on how that digital output works to my vcr with a rca jack?

I just got my video working. I got a long 3 plug rca plugs and i got the tv-out working, but i can't get the audio working. I am guessing a lot because I don't have an adapter to plug it into my sound card, which I am thinking of getting. But since someone mentioned the digital output thing, I would like to hear about it before I do anything.

Kmart says they have a longer (which I need) 2 plug rca plug. So I thought I'd switch to that instead of my shorter radio shack 3-plug rca wire.

I have a turtle beach santa cruz and a radeon le. I do not have s-video and have to use my vcr's front 2 a/v hook ups to get the video working. What is my best route to getting the sound? Should I just get my 2plug rca from k-mart and buy an adapter or is there a better and possibily easier alternative with digital output?

Thanks!

howdy

the only way to use a digital out from your soundcard is if you can plug your sound into a receiver (for your stereo) that has a digital input. you don't mention having a receiver, so i'm assuming you're just hooking right up to your vcr and nothing else right?

if so, then you are correct that you need an adapter.

basically, you would get a 1/8 inch male to dual female RCA adapter (at radio shack or wherever) and plug it into the speaker out on the sound card. you would then run the RCA cable from this adapter to the two audio inputs on the vcr (usually red and black). the third wire (usually yellow) would be the video signal (which you mentioned you had already figured out how to do)

so, that will get you analog audio.

if you DO have a receiver that has a digital input, let me know and we can figure out a better way
