Sounds like a Yamaha digital sound projector. An old co-worker has one and swears by it. I almost got one but stuck with a traditional HT 7.1 setup.
It was.
Yamaha YSP-4100.

I'm wondering why 1/3 of the screen is at about 1/3 brightness during the one second the logo pops up, that's worrisome.
I know a guy on another forum that is great at repairing Tv's...
If you bought this on amex you could file a claim and likely have that sweet sweet cash back on your account within a week. (Hint: Many TV manufacturers will tell you they offer no repair services or reparability after the 1 year warranty. this is magic words to the people who process claims)
I called a local tv repair guy and he said the problems sound to him like a bad 'main board' and not capacitors.
The estimate is $100-$150 for the part and $100 for labor.
Of course there's an issue of trusting him to not repair more than is needed etc.
Thanks for the offer to look at pics, but not sure what I'd do with the info - seems likely I'll be needing a repairman.
Err put the 200 towards a new tv.
That doesn't make sense to me. 200-250 versus the cost of a new 65"?
