Wall mounting really isn't an option. I am looking for a simple tv stand for about $300. Here are a few that seem fine. Show me other examples or even your own setups.

I have the following items that need to be accommodated:

Denon receiver (seems huge)
Energy center channel (small)
Blu-Ray and regular dvd players
DVR
CD player
Wii/xbox360

Items can be stacked but the SA 8600 DVR puts out a lot of heat.

Good thread ive been thinking about getting a new one as well
Sixthsense posted what IMO is one of the sexyiest TB stands ive seen in a long time the BDI 8540 in the HT pics thread

http://www.bdiusa.com/theater/avion_8540.shtml

i really like the design of the dual posts, so ive been looking for something similar that doesnt cost as much as my TV did. I really like the look of this one
http://www.standsandmounts.com/omnimountmodatvstandfor32-50inchflatpanelsespressoecho50-fp.aspx

but I feel i really want something with a shelf and not just a big opening.

however at around 2k its well out of my price range and yours as well

Is enclosing your center speaker going to have any detrimental effect on the sound?

I have a Techcraft 52" wide stand for my 50" plasma. Their stands are well made and not too expensive. Cheapest total price for mine was from http://www.provantage.com/

You can also find them at Sears, Target, Amazon, and http://www.racksandstands.com/Tech-Craft-C56.html

Check out their product line:
http://www.techcraft.net/

I have this TechCraft stand for my TV:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ef=oss_product

and it has it's own problems... I really wish (for the price) that they'd have put more reinforcement on the lower shelves. I had to put my center speaker there and well... the glass doesn't seem to like it much.

EDIT:

Also, the height clearance on the top shelf isn't very good... I had to slip my AVR in from the side because the arch (that forms the front two legs) hangs down lower than the shelf's clearance.

Aikouka,
I partially disagree with you about the Techcraft HBL52 and HBL60 (your Amazon link) stands. I think they have plenty of reinforcement for the lower shelves. They have a 1" thick center steel support bar under each of the 2 lower shelves and the shelves are rated to hold up to 80 lbs.

I do agree that the arch supports for the top shelf require that you place your components on it from the side. I had to do this with my center channel speaker. The center bar under the middle shelf also limits the height of components you can put on the bottom shelf.
Techcraft on their website in their linear view shows the clearance for each shelf as 6 1/4" but you can fit up to a 9" high component on the middle shelf by slipping it in from the side, but only up to a 5 1/4" high component on the bottom shelf due to the 1" center bar. This limited my choice of cases for my HTPC to ~5" high.
I looked at a lot of TV stands, and even with Techcraft's misleading dimensions on their website, $135. shipped from Provantage for the HBL52 was the best stand in this price range, and the positive reviews at Amazon confirm this. http://www.amazon.com/Techcraft-HBL52-52-Inch-Panel-Television/dp/B00178NJP2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1273499715&sr=8-1

What I also liked about this stand is that the center arch support for the top shelf is right under my 50" plasma TV's stand.

I wasn't suggesting this TV stand for the OP. From his pics he is interested in a credenza style stand which Techcraft also manufactures.

I bought mine from racksandstands.com, who currently has it for $324 shipped. These aren't the greatest pics, but they're all I have on hand:

looking at all the pic, doesnt the center speaker too low? some of them looks like they are just 10" off the ground. The center is firing at your legs. My center speaker is 22" or so off the ground

My stand is about 27" tall, so the bottom of my center speaker is probably about 17" off the ground, which isn't great but definitely better than 10". I do plan to wall-mount my TV (already have the mount) and place the center speaker on top, which will put it in line with the tweeters on my mains.

I have the Transdeco 64" tv stand (black metal and tempered glass). I got it from racksandstands.com
A problem with many stands out there is weight tolerance, shelf dimensions, and overall stand width. Many of the glass stands out there use cheap shelves that sit on notches or pegs in the sides, resulting in very low capacity (<50lb).
I'd also recommend against the cabinet-style stands as the closed back will cause acoustic problems for your center.
The Transdeco stand has column support throughout and can support significantly more. It also has wheels for flexible movement, wide shelves to accommodate most components, an open back design, and a tall middle shelf for components that stand up like game consoles, conventional PC cases, UPSs, or anything else you can think of.

The issue is that the support is only in the center and they do not provide enough rubber spacers and putting a heavy device in the middle causes noticeable bowing. I have my center speaker in the middle and I can see that the glass is bending. I need to find something to insert in there to ensure my glass does not contort. Personally, I would've preferred two horizontal bars for the two shelves (front and rear) to support it with 3 rubber feet for each (left, mid and right).

I think the stand is overall pretty good for anyone looking for an open stand, but it could honestly use a few design changes to make it superb. I've recommended it before simply because the price is also pretty damn good. I had a hard time finding a stand that wasn't $400+ for my newer TV.

Yes -- besides possible rear porting, there is the baffle issue. This is the sort of thing that makes a good room correction system mandatory in any new AVR.

Yeah, mine is a bit low. It's only 14" off the floor on center, but it's tilted upward so that helps, and it sounds fine. Unfortunately I don't have anywhere else to place it. The wall behind my TV is a window so I can't mount it there.

I don't see any bowing in the glass under my center channel speaker. It weighs 17 lb. You may need more rubber glass cushions. Both the 52" and 60" stands come with 18. They should have provided more with the 60". You can pick these up just about anywhere, or try emailing Techcraft to send you more. The part number is IHA0350.

I have similar to this:

But I have the bigger tv stand version (the 3 shelf) and only 1 of the equipment racks/stands (not 2 like the photo, I also have a 46"LCD on it and not a CRT). If I recall the top shelf supports 175lbs and the bottom shelf 150lbs in the TV stand, and the bottom shelf in the av/rack/stands are also 150lbs, with 75lbs for all the other shelves. I have a 120lbs amplifier on the bottom shelf of the av/rack/stand. These are the BDI Axis series which are a little older line (2003ish). Some of BDI's new lines look pretty good, especially if they are of the same build quality.

Yes. Unless the stand it setup with acoustically transparent cloth/screen for where the center channel sits, it will play havoc with the sound. As can be seen in the above photo of a similar stand to the one I have, it is open on the front and sides and that is actually preferred for sound. It is even more important depending on your center speaker (i.e. if it is ported, and if so, the port location).
