Are you talking about hooking the audio out of your tv to an input of your receiver so you can use your new speakers to watch tv?
Does your TV have RCA audio out connections? (red and white)

Some cables boxes (and expensive TVs) also have a digital out.

Shouldn't be a problem with any modern non-budget tv.
What kind of tv were you thinking of buying?

That one should work just fine.
The Dolby Digital output will give you surround sound output from the integrated DVD player. I'm not sure if the digital output will work for cable/regular tv, but if not then you have regular stereo RCA outputs on it too from the description.
I'm a college student too
Have fun.
