tv to receiver connection?

what kinda output is needed in the TV to hook it up to a receiver? I have a nice receiver and a set of polk speakers and i was wondering what kind of outputs i need in a tv to connect the two together.

Are you talking about hooking the audio out of your tv to an input of your receiver so you can use your new speakers to watch tv?

Does your TV have RCA audio out connections? (red and white)

Most modern TVs have at least stereo audio output jacks that you can connect with standard RCA white/red cables to a "tv in" or "tape in" or most any other "in" you like.

If you have cable you could use the red/white outs from the cable box instead.

Some cables boxes (and expensive TVs) also have a digital out.

Are you talking about hooking the audio out of your tv to an input of your receiver so you can use your new speakers to watch tv?

That one should work just fine.

The Dolby Digital output will give you surround sound output from the integrated DVD player. I'm not sure if the digital output will work for cable/regular tv, but if not then you have regular stereo RCA outputs on it too from the description. :thumbsup:

Hmmm... I just looked at the back of it at circuit city and it looks like it only has a digital coaxial output.

I've never used a tv with digital output for sound, so I'm not sure if this will output normal tv audio too, but I would imagine so.

Can anybody confirm that it will output PCM stereo for normal broadcasts, cable tv, things connected to the front AV/inputs, etc?
