tv tuner card recommendation please

I am looking to upgrade my video cards and would like to get a card that included tv tuner capabilities... I currently have an AGP Matrox Millenium 2 and a Voodoo 2 card in my system. What type of card would you all recommend for under $200?

woah, if you are looking for just a plan TV TUNER CARD, i think you can get a very very good one for under $200, lol. Check out the ATI TV WONDER for only $62 at Onvia.com i think.

I purchased the ATI TV Wonder and upgraded with RADEON 64meg DDR
with TV in and out for around $290. The ATI TV Wonder works great but I did have problems making it work correctly with the Matorx Video cards. I went to the ATI web site and Matrox is one of the video cards that the TV Wonder card is not really compatible with.(It did work but it was buggy). If you already have a VCR and you are willing to spend $200 bucks for a TV tuner, I would shell out extra $100 bucks and upgrade the video card to Radeon 64 Meg DDR. The resolution of vidoe capture was bigger than the TV Wonder. Or you can buy the ATI ALL IN WONDER RADEON (has built in TV tuner) for similar price range as Radeon 64 meg.

I guess I need to clarified some.. I am looking for one video card with tv tuner cabilities, that will act as a replacement for my existing 2 video cards. I would like to get good game performance also.

get the Voodoo TV 3500 , 3dfx is pretty good

Anandtech has several reviews of video/tv tuner cards posted over the last 18 months or so. Tom's Hardware did a recent comparison, check it too.

The whole question hinges on what features are most important to you, as they all perform a little differently. If your favorite games support Glide, then you probably want 3DFX, if it is hardware DVD decoding then it is probably ATI...Best 2D?(matrox has great 2D) Best TV picture? Video capture?

The question is really more complex than you might imagine, and only you know what features appeal to you the most.

Research is the consumer's most valuable tool.

Assuming you can stand waiting a few months, the Radeon All in Wonder would be you best bet. It has good 3D performance, excellent 2D quality, as well as a built in TV tuner as someone else mentioned. The only problem might be thats its going to likely retail for over $200, so start saving now .
