TV Wonder/PowerVCR II CD Audio In Problem and Question About Splitting TV Cable

Hi,

I am having a strange problem, I don't know if it's hardward or software.

I have an ATI TV Wonder. Despite what I've read, it has actually been working very well for me in Windows XP, albeit using CyberLink's PowerVCD II 3.0 software rather than ATI's own Multimedia Center. I am connecting the TV Wonder to my Sound Blaster Audigy through the CD Audio in. Everything seems to work okay, but the problem I'm having is that everytime I open the program or go into the program settings, I have to open Volume Control and check "CD Audio" because it unchecks itself so I get no sound. This is very annoying! The bigger problem is that I cannot schedule my computer to record a program because when the program opens as scheduled, there is no sound for it to record!

I was thinking that somehow my sound card can detect when there is a signal from the CD Audio in and automatically unchecks it? Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Since split up my TV cable so that I can have an input for my TV Wonder, my cable modem connection has been flaky. Has anyone had similar problems before after splitting a TV cable? Is there a solution?

I recently did this and had some problems when using improper coax cables. Make sure you use coax cables that screw into the splitter, are screwed in tight, and are of the proper shielding. Those kind that slide on without screwing them in (the kind that you usually connect a VCR to TV with) just don't cut it. My cable modem wouldn't work at all with those connected. Also, make sure you get a high quality splitter with proper frequency range. Most of the cheapies are 5-900 but I got one that said 5-1000. I'm not sure if this is really necessary. There are more expensive ones that are intended for Satellite splitting that have a much larger frequency range, but I really don't know much about those, or even if they can be used on cable systems. Anyone else know what frequency range splitter to use?

Hmm... Interesting... I bought my splitter at Fry's. I wasn't aware that there were "better" and "worse" splitters. I might have to check out RadioShack.

Anyone else have thoughts?
