Via Bluetooth. I believe the Touchpad supports the Bluetooth PAN profile.

I think PAN is the one profile it doesn't support. No ad-hoc, no PAN = no tethering for me.

edit: Looks like it might just be "does not support PAN for non-webOS phone"

Does anyone know how to install software without the software manager...or at least where the software manager "registers" programs?

If I could figure out what it's called from the command line, I could probably find its data file as long as it's not encrypted...I'm trying to manually install an app.

EDIT...Nevermind...I figured it out. After copying all files to their proper destinations, simply reboot and it gets 'picked up'. Appears to work flawlessly....

Except you should install Warthog kernel and OC to 1.7GHz.

Mine just screams in WebOS, very responsive. I simply wish there were more/better apps. At this speed, with tweaks, if it had a better app store it would be a truly brilliant device.

Haha, to me I feel that it would be "true" o/cing... since the CPU was originally a 1.5ghz downclocked to 1.2ghz, putting it back @ 1.5ghz was like nothing...

So here's an odd bug... The messaging app works at my jobs WiFi, but not at my apartment. The app launches, but it sits at "signing in" (gtalk) never actually signing in. This only happens when at my apartment. At work it signs in instantly. Any ideas?

Agreed.

I originally had Uberkernal installed and running at 1.5Ghz, but wanted to try out 1.7Ghz.

I swapped to Warthog running at 1.7Ghz and I like it much better.

To be honest, I feel like Warthog uses less battery even running at 1.7Ghz over Uberkernal at 1.5Ghz. While doing the same activities (hulu) under Warthog as Uberkernal (save video), my battery usage would max out at -800 or so under WH. Whereas it would go over -1000 while using Uber.

Seems odd to me, but I'll keep using Warthog for a few more days to try and get a better sample of battery usage.

So I OCed to 1.5 and installed all the recommended patches, but now my Touchpad seems to be flaky when it comes to registering touch input from my fingers.

Is that a side effect of installing one of the patches? Like the Smoothness x10 or the remove tap ripple patches for example?

Ok, so what version of the Kindle app does everyone have? I got the automatic update a few days ago but it doesn't seem to have installed correctly.

Mine had one already preloaded, but when I tried to launch it, it went and downloaded the Kindle beta, which does work for me.

An update was released earlier this week or over the weekend and it automatically downloaded and supposedly installed on my Kindle, but the version is the same as before and it still says "Beta." The new update was supposed to remove the Beta tag, among other things.

Managed to pair my Droid 1 with my TouchPad. Can use the TouchPad as a headset, not too exciting. Hope for some of you guys though. Some people were successful getting texts to go through and making calls from the TouchPad.

Anybody have weird bugs with Preware? For some reason I remember installing a bunch of apps like the Uberkernel/Govnah but when I went back to remove them (to install the Eagle15c kernel) they show up as not installed so I can't remove them even though I know they are installed (oc'd to 1.5ghz).

Other than that: I love the Angry Bird easter egg. You can sling the cards like a sling shot to exit and it makes the angry bird noise "Wheeee". (gotta orient the touch pad so the volume is pointed toward self and you drag a card toward yourself and let go)

Try uninstalling each patch and see if one of them being uninstalled fixes it.

Could also just be that your TP doesn't OC to 1.5..

Just got the keyboard accessory. Not too shabby, though I keep wanting to mouse over to something instead of just touching the screen.

How do I install 1.7GHz kernel? The only one that shows up in preware is the 1.5GHz one.

I got my 32GB touchpad yesterday and loving it.

I did all the tweaks and installed patches minus the cpu overclock.

When I downloaded the kernel this morning and it rebooted it basically bricked the device I couldn't boot or anything totally non responsive.

So this gave me my first chance to try out web doctor and it was a breeze it reset the device back to the original kernel. Upon reboot I had to go thru the setup again but at the end of it, all my stuff came back as its pulls a backup from the HP server.

Minus the little hickup which was actually a good thing as knowing how to recover the devices is just as important as tweaking it.

I tried again with the uber kernel and on the second try it was good.

After all the tweaks and the overclock I do see a difference.

The only tweak I didn't add again the second time was the smoothness one which everyone says you should but I found I got delayed taps with it. There is a second smoothness patch I may try but so far its all good.

lucky peeps who got their touchpad again!

I was lucky to get my order but it took almost 2 weeks to reach me cause of the massive backorder.

Doesn't help that Tigerdirect has no clue what they are doing when it comes to shipping products its like they randomly pick the orders to send out.

I removed both the Smoothness x10 and the tap ripple patches and I found it delayed the tablets response to my taps.

I tried the regular Smoothness patch not the x10 one and found that one better.

But after redoing all the patches I left both of them off and prefer it that way.

Disable the cache on the browser: http://coreyau.blogspot.com/2011/09/disable-weboss-flawed-browser-cache.html

This will basically fix the problem with the browser loading from cache. No slowdown or anything because downloading the page fresh takes less time than loading the page from cache then getting annoyed and hitting refresh.

Also, I noticed that images I downloaded weren't being indexed by that gallery app. Removing the muffle system logging patch fixed it.

I noticed this also when trying to import new background images if I added anything to the wallpaper folder it would never show up. Its only when I created a new folder then added pictures they showed up in the gallery, I didn't know the muffle system loggin patch was causing this issue good find.

Add Thumbnav patch in preware. When you swipe from the left or right side of the screen, little controls to navigate the browser pop out. Very nice.
