goddamn this device is a piece of shit. my 2 friends including my gf laugh at my touchpad as they whiz through their iPads.... sigh. I feel completely behind as they have app after app they can just launch, while I'm clicking 3 times on an email because the email app is so slow.

For the record I have it OCed to 1.5ghz too. I feel like my Android phone does more than this piece of shit... LOL.

I guess the nice thing is to wake up to a nice large screen instead of squinting at my phone while I read a few emails in bed....

Anyway, what's a nice IM app? The default one lets me sign into multiple AIM accounts but I can't control which screen name is IMing the other person... it's odd...

Disable the cache on the browser: http://coreyau.blogspot.com/2011/09/disable-weboss-flawed-browser-cache.html

This will basically fix the problem with the browser loading from cache. No slowdown or anything because downloading the page fresh takes less time than loading the page from cache then getting annoyed and hitting refresh.

Also, I noticed that images I downloaded weren't being indexed by that gallery app. Removing the muffle system logging patch fixed it.

This fixed my biggest complaint with the browser not refreshing. And I removing muffle system logging patch fixed the gallery issue. I also liked the Thumbnav patch but I replaced it with swipe left and right gesture patch instead since I mainly used the Thumbnav to go back and forward on the browser.

I'm enjoying using the browser again with the above fix. Now with the Splashtop Remote app, I've everything I need to be fully happy with the device. I agree with SunnyD that this is the best $85 I've spent on a device. I even splurged and bought all the accessories for this thing like the Touchstone, keyboard, and case. I couldn't pass up 2 HP covers and a keyboard for $47 deal shipped direct from HP.

Yeah, it's a stunning value buy. I grabbed an official case and Touchstone charger as well.

The browser annoys the piss out of me though, it's so slow! Also the spellchecker is frustrating as hell to use on these forums.

If you remove the muffle system logging patch, does this still keep all the changes you made with logging or does it revert the touchpad back?

New update Available for HP touchpad.

http://gizmodo.com/5850862/hp-touchpad-gets-a-webos-upgrade-from-beyond-the-grave

I installed it without removing any of my patches.

Some of them don't work after the install and needs the dev to update!

Here is a list from Precentral.

Ad Blocker
Add ThumbNav Controls
Advanced Reset Options
Disable Lock Screen
Just Charge by Default
Launch with Folder View Minimized (Mail patch)
Mimic Outlook Formatting on Email Reply/Forward
Muffle System Logging
No Launcher Button
Quiet powerd Messages (sic)
Remove Dropped Packet Logging
UberCalendar HD
Unhide Dev Mode Icon
Unset CFQ IO Scheduler
Unthrottle Download Manager

I have governah running but it doesn't show any profiles above 1.188 clock speed.

Even at stock speed devices does feel much faster than 3.0.2 at stock and is comparable to Uberkernel at 1.5Ghz interms of feel.

Downloading now. Nice to see that at least for now they are still offering support for this device.

after update, it seems all the mods have to be reinstalled

From what i've seen some people are saying wait until the dev's update the patches to support 3.04 so I may just do that. I'm finding performance to be much better 3.04 at stock clocks so I can live without them for now.

Yeah, the "Patches" section of Preware is gone on my Touchpad after the update. I had uninstalled "Advanced Reset Options" and "Remove Tap Ripple" and went to reinstall them and can't find them. I'm sure an update to Preware will fix all of this.

Also, if you disabled browser cache before the patch, you will need to disable it again.

The updated browser works alot better. Did you just disable the cache or did you try the browser first. I noticed pretty much first time I visited the forum. When you view the threads you posted in and they have new posts the title is bold. Once you view the thread and return to the sub-forum the threads are no longer bold. No need to refresh the page anymore. Used to have to refresh the page to see new posts which has a pita. Didn't seem like disabling the cache helped much to me before. Haven't done extensive testing yet but seems like the update was for the best.

I'm just gonna leave my 3.0.4 stock for now. I'll give it a couple of weeks and then maybe the tweaks will all be redone/fixed. Seems responsive enough for now.

Just updated to 3.0.4 and initial impressions are very positive. Everything feels faster like scrolling through the launcher and web pages. Very nice.

If I go to available packages I don't see patches there, however if I go to installed applications I see patch and all the ones I installed listed there.

The only patch I was unable to uninstall so far was the Muffle system logging one it gives and error message and points to some log file.

Yes, you will see the installed patches and you can uninstall them but you won't be able to reinstall them since patches aren't there in Preware. I got clarification from precentral.net and they said the existing patches aren't certified for 3.04 and when they are, they will reappear.

Also, the issue you have with Muffle System Logging is known. Not sure if there is a fix yet.

I tried it and it does seem better but I went ahead and disabled it again. Disabling the cache on 3.02 definitely helped because I wouldn't have to manually refresh. My guess is that they've probably fixed the issue but I've already disabled it and am too lazy to re-enable it.

Thanks yes seems to be a known issue.

On a side note a friend of mine setup android to run on this today and it looks good. I was playing around with it at lunch.

http://www.pcpro.co.uk/features/370558/how-to-install-android-on-the-hp-touchpad

His tablet dual boots so you can choose either OS at boot its pretty nice.

This is still an Alpha build but it was working well.

Yes wipe your tablet with the webOS doctor.

Also care to expand on "screwed audio" I haven't noticed any issues!

Noticed that while playing a mp4 file (3.55GB, 720p (16:9), 3991 kbps, 30 fps) with KalemSoft media player video was slow and audio sounded distorted/garbled. Like mentioned, a reboot fixed it. Not sure how this happened.

Still trying to fix pReader (Native). It keeps initializing and then ask to add book (ePub file) to library every time I use it. Swipe to next page doesn't work, I have to press the arrow key. A reboot usually fixes it.
