Most of the people who have benchmarked Mi Pad have achieved an Antutu score at or above 40,000 (Tegra 4 devices are closer to 36,000). That said, Antutu is not the greatest benchmark to begin with, and it is most certainly not a 3D graphics benchmark such as 3dmark or GFXBench. Mi Pad can achieve > 30,000 in the 3dmark Ice Storm "Graphics" score, > 30fps in GFXBench 3.0 Manhattan Offscreen score, and > 60fps in GFXBench 3.0 T-Rex HD Offscreen score.

Are there more personal reviews online? That was the only one I could find and it showed the 36k thats why I posted it, if you found others please link- I can't get enough TK1 information these days. As for Antutu not being a good bench, I was simply trying to make the point we need to wait for real-world product testing to show performance and power usage until we get too giddy and then let down. Please send me some links to the 3dmark testing if you can find it.

Wow, that does look impressive. If the power use is not too wonky that is a hell of a tablet. I will be really excited to see how HL2 and Portal run on it- We are finally reaching what was promised by mobile SOC's so many times the last 4 years with possible PC/Console level gaming. I looked but didn't see if they planned on doing power testing, did you?

No I did not. I fully bet/expect power usage to be similar to Tegra 4 but unless you find normalized power usage graphs that will still be hard to pinpoint since the Tegra Note 7 had significantly smaller battery and smaller screen.

Note that this particular 3dmark benchmark, unlike GFXBench 3.0, is not particularly stressful on the latest and greatest ultra mobile GPU's.

the physics score is pretty nice, but is 2.4% lower than the S805 in this benchmark. meaning the S805 is still a competitor on the CPU side.

but the graphics score is insanely different. 74% higher in that benchmark.

combine that with this with:

vs. the S805, in T-Rex +45%, Manhattan 1080p Off +56.5%. Manhattan On +47.3.

impressive stuff out of mobile Kepler.

Nvidia doesn't need to win the outright performance crown in CPU performance (although it would be nice since they are considering themselves a premium mobile chip company). As long as they remain highly competitive with CPU performance, and deliver knock-out GPU performance, then the chip will look great.

It will be interesting to see how TK1 64-bit does in comparison to existing SoC's, and also how it will fare against the 20nm Android chips that will soon follow it.

Keep in mind that the S805 variant tested by Anandtech was in a 10.6" MDP/T chassis running on A/C power with a maximum CPU clock operating frequency of 2.65GHz (which is the absolute maximum frequency specified for S805), while the TK1 variant in Xiaomi Mi Pad is in a 7.9" chassis running on battery power with a maximum CPU clock operating frequency of 2.15GHz. Also note that the 3dmark physics benchmark is multi-threaded and scales very well with frequency and up to four CPU cores.

With respect to single threaded CPU performance, Javascript, and Browser performance, Krait 450 in S805 @ 2.65GHz is not even able to match Cortex A15 @ 1.9GHz in Tegra 4 (note that the Asus Transformer Pad TF701T uses Tegra 4):

The R3 Cortex A15 variant in TK1 is both higher performance and more power efficient than the Cortex A15 variant in Tegra 4.

So, generally speaking with respect to shipping devices, the multi threaded CPU performance of [quad core R3 Cortex A15] TK1 should be as good or better than S805, while the single threaded CPU performance should be significantly better than that of S805 (and obviously the dual core Denver TK1 variant will be way beyond that too for single threaded CPU perf.).

good pick up on the chassis part. all the more impressive with the java and browser benches.

FWIW, Xiaomi claims that the TK1-powered Mi Pad achieves > 3400 multi-core score in Geekbench 3, which is significantly better (~ 20% better) than the S805-powered MDP/T that Anand measured. R3 Cortex A15 in TK1 in general should have relatively strong floating point and integer CPU performance compared to Krait 450 in S805 (not to mention Javascript and browser performance too), while the Krait CPU should have relatively strong mem/stream performance (because more mem. bandwidth is reserved for the Krait CPU than for the Cortex CPU in these SoC's), which is why the overall Geekbench single core and multi-core score is even close in the first place.

According to Gizmochina, the Xiaomi Mi 4 [5"] smartphone will have metal chassis, Sony camera, fingerprint recognition software, and will come in two hardware variants with 3GB RAM: one with S805, and one with TK1.

Nvidia is leaving mobile phones and tablets to the other SoC manufacturers. Cars and gaming, not smartphones and tablets, is Tegras future. I think that pretty much shows what a failure Tegra has been.

Simply not true. From linked article

"And then we're going to focus our energy on segments of mobile computing, segments of phones and tablets where computer graphics are really important."

found this, only one datapoint though:
http://browser.primatelabs.com/geekbench3/657918

Not too bad, ~14% ST/~15%+ MT faster than Tegra 4.

S805: 1,049 ST, 2,878 MT, from Anandtech.

Here is something:
http://mikecanex.wordpress.com/2014/06/13/xiaomi-mipad-gets-in-depth-review/

Those scores seem way too low to me. Basemark OS II for example is 60% lower than what Xiaomi says. MT geekbench is also way off. I expect higher scores for both gb and those others.

Here is something

Those scores are obviously not legit and not representative of a shipping device such as Mi Pad (the 3dmark Ice Storm Unlimited score alone is only about half of what Mi Pad achieves).

Unreliable online review which makes NVidia look good? A-okay! Unreliable online review which makes NVidia look bad? "obviously not legit" Sure, whatever you say. I'm waiting until someone trustworthy gets hold of one- hopefully NVidia will send one to Anandtech, if they're proud of their work. Unless they're trying to quietly bury it like the Titan Z.

the youtube review i think is trustworthy, no funny business happening there. the scores were comparable to xiaomi's numbers.

LOL, use some common sense here. There are numerous people who have done hands on benchmarks of Mi Pad on youtube, and most of the results are consistent within 5-10% margin of error compared to Xiaomi's own data. The data speaks for itself. This is the world's fastest Android tablet with respect to GPU perf, and among the world's fastest Android tablets with respect to CPU perf. Deal with it already, it is what it is.

Here is some more data, though the single-core score seems a bit high, and multi-core score seems a bit too low, same with T-Rex.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2014-what-if-you-could-play-pc-games-on-a-tablet

I hope Anand can get a review unit of one of these, or at least the upcoming Shield Tablet.
I think Anand will review very soon SHIELD 2 Tablet (that will be available end of July in USA) instead of the Xiaomi Mi Pad.
All SHIELD 2 details here:
