Twitter permanently bans Gay Conservative Milo Yiannopoulos for mocking a Ghostbuster

Well my opinion of Milo has dropped significantly on that news. Obviously his arguments were for the faithful because they don't really stand up to a lot of scrutiny.

The thought came to me yesterday that a lot of people on the internet don't actually know what a troll is, even if they use the word a lot.

For example, most Yiannopoulos followers don't realize he's essentially performance theater. They think he's only "trolling" Jones & such, but not them. Yet it's fairly clear Milo largely despises the neckbeard gaming crowd despite acting one of the main gamergate alt-right instigators.

I think many are unfamiliar with how British politics where he comes from works. It's largely the same echelon of people who went to the same schools putting on a show for the lower classes.

As mentioned twitter should use smaller words like bullying or picking on instead of that big ones like harassment to help these people grasp the situation.

There are plenty of openly racist conservatives posting on twitter (hell, one of them was being broadcast at the RNC). If it needs explaining, posting on twitter means someone isn't banned.

Ergo, Milo wouldn't be banned either just like them if he limited himself to posting conservative/racist crap or whatever. I only use ergo because therefore, or logically, are probably too big, too.

You don't seem to understand how discussions tend to work.

If for example there were some contention over whether 2+2=4 or 22, there would first be some explanation of how basic arithmetic works. This is not unlike when people were explaining what the word harassment means.

Then if some on the blatantly wrong side of the argument still don't get it despite rather clear explanation of objective reality, the problem obviously resides elsewhere, usually on those said some. Eg:

Therefore the discussion turns to why they don't/can't get it.
