Two 2tb HD drives via USB. Can't install 2nd..

I have two 2TB hard drives I just bought for backup. One is for odd numbered days and one for even numbered days. Hopefully if one of them dies, I will still have the other.

I fired up one of them easy as pie after connecting it to a USB port, and used it for backup on several days.

Then I tried the second drive on the same port. Device manager correctly identifies it as a wd2002faex drive (Western Digital drive, part# wd2002faex).

And that is a far as things go. I can't get any further recognition. If I pop up Windows Explorer I can see my SSD drive, but not my new USB drive.

I have tried everything I can think of.

Does Windows 7 become confused if I sequentially connect two different but same model drives to the same port, one with data on it and the other having none(i.e. clearly the second drive is discernible as not being the first drive, perhaps just by serial number)?

No, it shouldn't get confused by doing that, assuming you did the 'safely remove device' each time you swap them.

What happens when you connect that drive to a SATA port on the MB ?
