I was thinking of this as well.. would be a tricky decision to fire. In this case the bad guys are obvious, with police lined up clearly opposite them. But if the police see firing out the window who says you aren't a target?

It would have been trivial to pick up the phone, dial 911 and alert them to your plans.

911 is going to tell you to put the gun down.. and in the chaos that message is never going to make it to the officers on the ground.

Hmm... so why did the older one charge the police? Perhaps he was hit and wanted a diversion for his brother?

It's sounding like they didn't let the guy they carjacked go - they were just terrible at crime and left him alone and he escaped.

Really it wouldn't have been hard for them to have escaped to New York where they apparently wanted to go and kill more people.

Hadn't put a ton of thought into my first comment, but ok, let's take a look.

You're 50'-75' away. You're on their flank, in an elevated position, and they're completely distracted.
I don't know how long they were there in front of the SUV. It might have all been over by the time I could have been ready to go. But if the opportunity was there, I think I'd have to try.

I hope I would too, and I hope I wouldn't think about nor take my own safety into consideration. If the cops start shooting me, so be it. I might be die, but I'd want to save lives. If I could I would. I wouldn't give a fuck if the police didn't like it.

Also, anyone seen this picture yet?

That appears to be Tamerlan Tsarnaev, quite alive and surrendering (see his hands and crossed feet). That's how it's portrayed. Not sure the photo matches our own member's shootout photos. Could be the naked suspect they released?

I don't think that's him. Saw that picture last week with more of the surrounding picture, and it looks like one of the many folks who got too close to the action and the police had them get down so they could investigate.

Once the shooting started, do you think those officers down the street were holding anything back? Do you think they were aiming specifically to injure only?

no, but they were being shot at. you as a bystander who shouldn't be watching out the window aren't in the same position.

i'm not arguing what is right/wrong, all i'm saying is if you did that be prepared to be charged with murder, especially in mass. where the gun laws are apparently pretty strict.

No problem purbeast. Just friendly discussion. I guess what it boils down to is in my mind I wouldn't be a bystander. It's happening, right now, right in front of me. Don't get me wrong, I'm not looking for chances to jump into a fight. I'm old enough to have learned to steer clear of most situations before they get to that stage. I'm not going to get in a fight over who had their quarters down first at a pool table. But in that situation, I think I'd feel compelled to act.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's naked guy. I remember seeing a picture like that the night of the shootout.

I don't know if that is him, but the reports also state that he was run over by his younger brother, who was in an SUV and was still trying to escape.

TBH I am sure it was planned. The older one was wounded, said let me draw them out and you hit them. Just my thought on how things played out.

I was guessing that he was running at the police because he had a bomb strapped to his chest and wanted to take some of them with him, and perhaps give his brother a chance to escape.

Did you guys see this?

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...merican-friend-2011.html?ICO=most_read_module

Unsolved triple murder 2 years ago in which Suspect #1's only American friend and 2 others were killed. He didn't go to his friend's funeral and stopped going to the gym they both frequented immediately afterward.

DailyMail not being the best source for this stuff, CNN picked up this story today as well.
