two hard drives in shuttle xpcs?

I'm looking at the pics of the new shuttle xpc and it looks the mounting holes are different for each 3.5 drive bay

can you stick two hard drives in there instead of one floppy and one hard drive. I would like to take advantage of raid 1 when shuttle ships their new xpc

You definately can, but heat builds up in those systems quickly. People have warned to stay away from Raptor drives, which put out a ton of heat, in particular.

Barracuda V's will do the job just fine, plus they are much cheaper compared to a laptop drive. I like/agree with you on the idea of using laptop drives for ITX setups, but when you are dealing with a Shuttle setup as opposed to a VIA C3 setup or any other really thin case, 3.5" hard drives SHOULD be fine. I have no doubt in my Barracudas (and will soon find out on Thursday when I receive my Shuttle), but as opposed to some Maxtors that get much warmer, that would be iffy.

I run 2 WD 120GB 8MB cache drives in mine and runs fine, you'll have no problems except for super hot ones.
