I looked for about 50 well known artists at emusic.com...couldn't find a single one. Hell, I had to randomly choose a song to download from them just to get the headphones.

I downloaded from emusic before too...i was very shocked to hear the poor quality of the songs. I downloaded like 10 songs...all of them were very poor quality as evidenced on my on screen equalizer

I beg to differ on their quality of artists. As for their quality of files I don't know, I just browsed the site when the Nomad deal was around to see if there was anything I would download, then decided to wait for payday and missed out on the Nomad. If you are looking for obscure acts, they seem to have a good amount. Of course they aren't going to have Ricky Martin's and what not, because obviously Ricky doesn't need any help selling albums. The sheep buy that crap up.


Blackalicious, one of the most intelligent groups in hip hop today have their out of print debut EP, Melodica, there. As well as their newest LP Nia, and another EP A2G. If you enjoy hip hop, and are not close minded to exploring new artists please check them out. You will not be disappointed. Also look for Anticon, another highly intelligent group of hip hop artists.

I just wanted to agree with highme about the hip-hop selection at emusic. I ordered $50 worth of music for the RaveMP and now another $50 for the Nomad II and wound up having to make some tough decisions about which albums I wanted to download. I thought I had pretty much picked them clean the first time around and was pleasantly surprised by how much their selection had expanded in a few months.

For the record, I got:

Aceyalone, AWOL One, Blackalicious, some Blackberry Music and Beat Junkies compilations, Invisibl Scratch Picklz and a few Del/Souls of Mischief singles I didn't have. And I can't complain about the quality, they seem good enough to burn if I wanted to do that.

As for the HP deal, it sounds like a good one to me, especially if one has some sort of wideband connection. Too bad I just happened to get this Plextor 12/10/32 the other day...

I must be the only one who dosent hate Emusic..Back when the Speaker/Headphone deal was around, I got every single one of Elvis Costellos albums on mp3. Of course, I have them on cd, but I had to buy something, and when I take my computer with me, I can always be comforted by a nice Elvis Costello song

Another fan of Emusic. I like obscure stuff, and the quality of the songs seems pretty standard to me. I just wish they'd come up with a different naming standard. Too bad I don't need a cd burner
