I don't think Trump wants a war with Iran, but Bolton and Pompeo are probably telling him "We look like pussies if we don't do anything." I think the US will pull out all the stops in a war with Iran. Bolton will try to obliterate the place.

It's only sloppy if you assume the intent was to sink the ship. The detonations were clearly above the waterline to begin with, and a small enough explosive was used that it'd make a bunch of smoke but not dump millions of barrels of oil into the gulf. This was for show, to get someone to do something. We'll find out at some point later who, and for what purposes.I wouldn't get too wrapped up about the where the holes appear to be. I am guessing the flying object has to be a drone with makeshift explosives attached to it. I don't see how it could be a bullet since it would be flying too fast to be seen by the naked eye as claimed by the tanker personnel and a missile should have a visible flare at the end and would cause a much bigger explosion.

I don't think Trump believes in anything for more than 5 minutes if it doesn't directly affect him. He has no policies accept to rock the boat.Maybe...But I don't believe Trump is a warmonger at heart. He's campaigned against it and his isolationist wing of his base won't like it. That's not to say he won't use it for distractionary purposes and other positions to project him as tough, when he really is, deep down, a pussy. It's a coin flip at this point, and I'm not completely sure that a expensive, manufactured war to placate his ego is a winner at the voting booth.
