I can't get rid of the network login/login at boot up. I tried deleting *.pwl but that didn't do it.

How can I tell what Java VM I have?

<< How can I tell what Java VM I have? >>

go to programs>ms dos prompt & type JVIEW then hit enter.
you'll see your version on the top line!

For the login, I think you need to open your network configuration in the Control Panel. Remove "Microsoft Family Login". I think that should fix it but I could be wrong.

Actually, since DarrylLicke is referring to

<< the network login/login >>

, I think that the "Microsoft Network Logon" should be removed. When this happens, "Microsoft Family Logon" is restored (default) and when this happens, I suggest either: A) Entering no password or B) entering a username and password, then use TweakUI to turn on the auto-logon feature to avoid the logon window prompt.

actually, i don't think you need to remove anything. underneath the big window that shows all the networking components you have installed (NIC, protocols, transport layers, etc), is a window which shows a single line & also has a pull-down button. punch the button to get a list of options to select & choose "windows login". this will use your windows login to log into your network. if you have a windows password you'll still be asked for it, but if you set your password to blank then it won't. you should be able to clear your password (if it's set) from "users" in control panel.

hope this helps,

joe

I'll try all of these but the login I am referring to is the one that happens whenever you log into windows. I believe it is so different people can have different settings in WIN98se.
