Hi it seems that my gpu isn't getting enough power from my single PSU.... I was wondering if it is safe to have one PSU going to the gpu and the other powering the rest of the computer??? Temporarily until I get a new PSU next week?
Here are my specs :

CPU: i7 2700k
CASE: Guardian 912 rb
HDD : WCD green 1tb
RAM: 16gb 1333mhz ddr3
MoBo: Asrock pro3 gen3
DRIVE: Super Multi combo 22x
GPU: gigabyte 7970 oc
The two PSU's that I want to connect are

PSU: LMC Honli ATX-850W
And
PSU2:Eagle ATX-450w

I wouldn't trust anything to either of those PSUs, but yeah, it should work.

You need an adapter to do it, unless you keep one of them permanently on (short the green wire on the motherboard connector with any black one).

That must be a very poor 850W unit if it can’t handle that system. :awe:

no kidding, how about you buy a quality 650w or 750w PSU and call it a day, if your current PSU is struggling with that load it cant even provide half its rated wattage.

Your setup would've been easy, even for a 600W PSU. That is of course if you've bought a PSU that is from reputable brands like Seasonic, Corsair, XFX, Silverstone and Antec to name a few. These PSUs have true power output, meaning that it will output as written on the box itself.

You could have saved yourself some money by buying a proper PSU in the first place and not having to go through the hassle of rerouting the cables again.

100% this, stick to Antec, Seasonic, Corsair, XFX, and you cant go wrong.

The XFX PSU's have been on sale alot lately, usually cheaper than seasonic or corsair, and are quality units made by seasonic.

In fact many of the Antec and Corsair PSUs are also made by Seasonic

I'll bet even a Seasonic fanless X-460 would have no trouble powering his system.

I've just put in an order for a Thermaltake tough power XT 875. As I've herd they are a good PSU. I'm sure these ones are top of the range.. Please comment?
