I have a couple of general questions. About 2 weeks ago my p4 system fried itself. I have no idea what happend actually, other than my comp started turning itself on and off again very quickly and then I smelled the horrible odor of burning plastic. The south bridge of my P4B had a melt down. Needless to say, i got a new comp.
Question 1: Are there any dual core drivers for Intel Core 2 Duos as there is for the Athlon X2? After a fresh install of windows and updated video drivers, etc, I ran 3dmark05 basic and obtained a score of 5600. This seems rather low. I realize the C2D 6300 at stock is not the fastest proc but... Given the following, am I correct in assuming this score is unusually low?
C2D 6300
Nvidia 7600GT (forceware 91.47)
Asus P5W
2GB DDR2 800
Otherwise, things are fast.
Question 2: Lately I have had issues with my video and display in general and I can't seem to diagnose the source. Both TV and DVD movies have issues with white balance. Games and the desktop all look great, but the tv (i have a leadtek PVR2000) and movies don't look good. The image is a bit grainy (which i expect for the tv) and both are generally dark with bright spots simply whited out. Glare on peoples skin in movies just looks bad. I have messed around with various color settings on the display, through the nvidia drivers, and both the tv and dvd programs, but nothing seems to work. The display is a dell 2005fpw.
Thanks for any thoughts.
Mike
