The description makes me think "NO", but I could be wrong. I would like to find out for sure, though, before I drop the coin on this.

Not sure I understand this 100%. I buy one and plug it into a wall upstairs and plug the Ethernet cable into my desktop and I will receive ethernet speeds over my wireless?

You need two of these to function. Connect one to a plug close to your ethernet switch and then plug into the switch. The other one can be plugged into another outlet near the item that you want to connect. Speeds vary depending on several factors including condition of house wiring, distance and also what circuit (there are two 120V circuits in your home) that they are plugged into.

Oh crap. Seriously? For some reason I thought it would come in pairs like the Logitech PlayLink. Will have to make a call to change the order tomorrow.

I have used the older 14Mbps max ones for ~2 years. I was able to put the connection out into a switch and share the connection between different computers and components (360). They suddenly stopped working around 6 months ago though, and have since found a good wireless N solution.

Newegg CSR was kind of enough to let me order a 2nd unit with FREE shipping. Newegg customer service hasn't let me down yet.

Got my two units. They worked right out of the box, I didn't even have to hold down the "security" button on both units for two seconds. I guess that means that they are using the default password, so they could be sniffed if someone else in my apt complex decided to purchase the same sort of units. Doubtful though.

Haven't gotten around to testing with an additional switch and device yet.
