According to some, not enough evidence to determine Gov. Abbott is a racist piece of shit who confirms the same for the majority of the Republican Party

He gets to push a narrative of protecting citizens' rights to defend themselves with deadly force with an undertone of racism. Small price to pay letting a murderer go free, amirite?

Abbott also referenced Texas’ “Stand Your Ground” law, which he called “one of the strongest” in the country.

All stand your ground laws do is remove your duty to retreat when outside your home. No matter how "strong" the law is, you can't use deadly force in self defense unless, well, you are defending yourself from deadly force.

I know we're of a certain age average here but you all need to take some memory meds. If Abbott goes and pardons this lowlife piece of trash then it'll spark riots within Texas. Shit it's happened before. This should not be a surprise to anyone. Then the feds will step in. Let stupid people, such as abbott, do what they want to do then hang them out to dry.

Abbott seems like he has the balls to make such a stupid move. Maybe desantis can learn something instead of being told to pound sand and taking Donny's balls out of his mouth.
Those riots will be labeled as lawless thugs, an insurrection worse than Jan 6. Unless a majority of white people step up to the plate.

He's not doing this because he's shit. That's your, in my opinion, more accurate opinion of him. I believe he has entirely other motives than to admit to being shit. My view is that he believes that what makes America great is that it was conceived as a White Christian nation and that all the hog wash about it being Under God, just a pile of bull shit, he believes quite literally or at least conveniently so for his political aspirations. And I believe also that he is fully aware that the time when a majority of people who similarly believe, support, and vote that way is in the process of coming to an end. His world of elite entitlement is dying and will no longer be sustained by a democratic vote.

What this means, of course, is that only by the violence of intimidation and the destruction of the democratic voting process will his kind survive and none of those cowards will be the first to step forward to commit insurrection if they know they are going to jail.

It is imperative then, for conservative victory and the preservation of their delusional world view to have a large body of operatives willing to throw themselves as kindling of the fire and that will mean a belief they will be pardoned as valiant Christian or any other kind of soldiers. Abbott is dangerously fanatically insane and a liberal form of government is powerless to act on that fact with confidence. We will have to wait and see if the country falls and afterward who wins the the Civil War 11.
You really contradicted yourself. The above is EXACTLY why he is a piece of shit.

Add the following...
Abbott: "Fuck those ni**ers, they should be picking my cotton"

How many more examples of Republican overt racism to we need before critical mass concludes they are the racist party? Why are so many willing to ignore the ever-mounting examples and just deny it or claim, "no big deal? What does it take? People like me hanging from trees like Republicans in Tennessee wanted? I guess even that wouldn't be enough.

that's what riots are. The Rodney King riots were originally protests. The difference between peaceful protest and lawless rioting like we saw a few years ago and now overseas is a matter of keeping it under control. I mention the Rodney King ones because those were the first ones I recall seeing on the television. There were some riots in 80 or 81 in the UK but I have zero memory of how big they were but I remember it was race related. We lived south of that mess. There were a few black families, well to do or otherwise. We had some immigrant South African families who were disgusting. Their kids were racists and ended up getting their face beaten in until they learned to shut their mouths. For a very white area we did well to stop racism in its tracks. Usually the other way around, the city is more liberal with the countryside being more racist.

It wasn't until we moved to America and I said goodbye to almost everything that I saw real racism. We lived in a few different states but I remember overhearing or even being told some appalling shit. Some people figure if you're white you're cool to speak in a racist manner. We weren't really taught much about America and I only had a vague understanding of the civil rights era here. UK wasn't perfect then, it still ain't.

I have to admire what Gloria Johnson said a few days ago on why she wasn't expelled. That lady said it quite bluntly. "I'm a middle aged white woman." Middle age doesn't matter, she's white. That's what mattered in the end. Council approved the reinstatement of those two Black politicians but I read the state GOP is considering cutting funding. Actions speak louder than words.

Someone should take a bet with Abbott. If he can stand and walk 150 meters unassisted without any mechanical aids he'll get to pardon that man. That's the equivalent of Jesus if real having appeared on Friday, went to mass on Sunday and walked on water today. If i lived in Texas that's what I would present to Abbott myself, because I'm already well aware of how much a brash asshole I am to people I dislike or deem stupid.

No, I really don’t think this will end his career.
Exactly, I can't think of a single thing that will end a Republican's career today. We joke Gaetz's son is his gay lover because the adopted son story is so bizarre it couldn't be true, but here we are. Desantis could get caught as an undercover drag queen grinding on a married man with nothing under his dress and he'd still be governor and he'd quickly recover.

A dem politician could get caught smoking a spliff in a legal state and they'd be torn apart by both sides and asked to step down. and over a spliff!

You still aren't acknowledging that it is as much YOUR fault, as it is Abbott's. Anything that any shitty rethuglicunt does is also your fault and not their own because the mental health in this country is as much your fault as everyone else's. Moonpie will tell you, just ask his holiness.

Let's not pretend Europe is some racial paradise. The UK broke away from Europe over fears of too many Eastern European plumbers and construction workers; and just ask people in Western Europe what they think about immigrants and people from Eastern Europe... racism in the US simply has a different flavor and presentation.

I never said it was? Race is still an issue, not as much as the US. I know Brits back home who bitch about Poles but at the end of the day they do a fantastic job vs actual Brits. The latter is lazy, never on time, mucks everything up, not respectful of property. Anti polish sentiment goes way back in British history. Anti Irish sentiment is still around in some parts. It's casual racism that stands out nowadays.

Why wasn't the victim considered "standing his ground?"

What if the AK47 dude was raising his gun to defend himself? Who shoots first wins?

This is yet another reason why Open Carry or any Carry is stupid without any restrictions.
No! He was black..."those people" don't have the same rights as their betters.

Yeah, a ton of the stand your ground cases that hit the presses are basically whoever shot first was in the right.
