Any comments on the quality of the Tyan S1854 quality and performance. Are the Abit's better or is it all hype. If they are better which one is the best for P3-933. Thanx in advance for any help
tingtang,
The Tyan 1854 is an excellant board, however, an i815 based board such as the Abit SE6 or MSI i815 Pro 6337 will give you better performance. As for quality, both companies manufacture a quality product, IMO.
I had a Trinity 400, the biggest POS I have ever had. My KT7 is faster and more stable, but then agian, they are totaly different boards. Based on my personal experiance, Abit.
CUSL2 here. Got it a few days ago and has been on since without a problem. I LOVE IT!it's fast and stable, it's lived up to my highest expectations so far i only wish i had support for more IDE's.
In a toss-up between the Tyan & Abit boards I'd choose Abit. However, if you want the best board there is, choose the ASUS CUSL2-C, based on the i815 EP chipset or maybe the CUSL2, which has onboard graphics.
Go for AMD CPU instead, they're the most overclockable CPU at the moment and you don't have to worry about the motherboard because there are a lot of websites reviewing the KT133A mobo and it seems promising. Intel is just too expensive for me.
