My Chinese friend eat rice everyday, he said he can't live without rice. He never skipped a day without rice. I believe him because he was one few of my flatmates 1st year of uni. He brings like 15kg of rice every semester lool

I'm white as white can be as well.

My dinners could be summarized in two categories...

What do I want to eat?
What will my kids actually eat?

What I *want* to eat is....
1 night Mediterranean food
1 night sushi
1 night indian
1 night chinese
1 night some kind of yummy seafood
Leftovers in between....

What ends up happening is:
Pizza out of a box
mac and cheese out of box
chicken strips
fish sticks
spaghetti and meatballs
more pizza
oh and fuck it...why not pizza three nights in a row

Kids have absolutely murdered any creativity and interest I have in cooking.

/this

Personally I don't think "white American" has a cuisine. nearly everyone i know eats a variety of food. Like Vi Edit said we have pretty much anything.

We do eat a LOT of chicken, fruits and Veggies though.

we only eat red meat 4 times top a week (i am counting lunch too).

we don't do a ton of seafood. maybe 4 times a month.

Chicken and salmon mostly. Sometimes we'll have veggie burgers, chicken might be stuffed or pollo asado. Salmon we bake with some seasoning. Maybe buy a whole roasted chicken and shred it and add to a dinner salad with an olive oil/vinegar/garlic/mustard dressing. Pasta probably once a week, sometimes homemade linguine with clam sauce. Most meals include veggies, usually steamed.

First of all I find this topic completely fascinating, in a good way. I think most white people would think the real Asian diet boring, because white rice is at every meal. So this is a really cool thread to learn about other cultures. I do have to say I spent 3 weeks in Shanghai and while there I always tried to eat Chinese food. I even ate the meals that were served in the cafeteria, even though some of my colleges did not. Too Chinese for them I guess.

This week for dinner
Monday. Homemade lasagna
Tuesday. Big salad. Store bought roasted chicken (I forgot to sous vide a chicken on Sunday) cucumbers and sauteed mushrooms in the salad
Wednesday. Spaghetti. We have this once a week. My autistic son has a VERY limited diet and spaghetti is one of them. We have this once a week so we eat with him.
Tonight will be hamburgers with tater tots.

You know I can't remember the last time I had mashed potatoes. Usually if we have potatoes we cube them and fry them up with some onion.

Pork Loin, Spaghetti Squash with Italian sausage and Chicken are what I usually cook during the week. My wife can't cook and makes no attempt at making anything good, so she usually suggests going out to eat.

Recently Ive made from scratch, mostly, not in any order.

chicken wings
falafel w/ jerusalem salad, hummos and pita
tuna casserole
pasta w/ meatsauce and cheese
hamburgers I made and frozen microwave fries
hashbrowns and eggs and toast
tuna sandwiches on rye w/ cheetos and kosher pickles
turkey sandwiches on white with mayo (hehe)
bologna sandwiches on white with mustard
various salads with creamy garlic dressing
hot dogs w/ chicago toppings etc.

Also, various microwave foods and Chipotle(NEVER GOTTEN SICK from them ever), and taco bell.

I love chinese and thai food but havent eaten any in about a month. I love mongolian beef. The spicy kind. Not the nasty bland brown sauce kind. And pad thai. I love sushi too.

I like rice but find it difficult to make and I dont own a rice cooker.

I do kinda find it amusing that you eat rice each day with "other stuff" and consider that diverse. Most white people would say thats just korean food. One non-diverse thing. But I realize there is tons of korean foods. Ive only had korean food once, something called bulgolgi? But it was really good.

But white people eat basically everyone elses food from across the world cuz food from white countries is basically meat, vegetable, starch separated on a plate.

White people from the US at least, probably have the most diverse diet of anyone.

Why you think white people only eat potatoes and peas with a meat...im not sure. hehe :whiste:

About 4 nights a week I eat a meal consisting of the following 4 things:

-1 Wildcaught (I don't buy that farmed sh!t) Salmon filet from Costco
-Pile of quinoa seasoned with "southwest" seasonings.
-Small pile of Alexia Potatoe Wedges with herb seasoning
-Handful of breaded and peppered Calamari from Costco

I had this last night. I cook the salmon on the grill and wedges (I prefer them over fries) and Calamari in a toaster oven. The quinoa on the stovetop. They all seem to get done around the same time. 20 mins cooktime.

I see, Chinese Canadian here. Looking at what you guys had for dinner I see myself wasting lots of time in the kitchen. Our dinner usually rice + 3 dishes + soup, sometime we do steak, pasta and other typical western dishes.

last night
rice, chicken pork bone soup, stir fry veg w/ cured duck meat, pan fry whole fish and pot roast pork tongue.

Monday night
rice, chicken herb soup, stir fry veg, curry chicken(whole chicken I chopped up, not your boneless chicken breast).

Sat night
rice, veg soup, stream whole fish, potato cake(Chinese style) and stream pork.

Pretty close to this as well. Wife's a good cook; nice variety.

I'm as white American as you can get. I have no real ethnic heritage, my family ancestry is Euro-mutt on both sides. Generally I'll have something Italian once a week and something Tex-Mex once a week. Usually something Asian once a week too, sometime take-out Chinese, sometimes take-out Thai and sometimes homemade. The other days a rotating melange of 30-40 different things I like. Summer it's a lot of seafood, steaks and various grilled things, winter it's more casseroles, stews, etc. Had Tex-Mex Tuesday, Italian yesterday, tonight chicken Caesar and tomorrow Swedish meatballs. After that, who knows, I rarely plan more than a couple of days ahead.

meatballs in tomato sauce, or in swedish style gravy.
tatertots
steamed or roasted veggies
sausages with cabbage
farmers steak - kinda like a giant meatball/burger pattie hybrid cooked with some broth and onions/peppers/tomatos/ whatever you have around.
frozen raviolis with a little sauce or just some parm and salt and pepper.
pan fried fish w/ veg or tatertots. - probably make this tonight.

I go through phases where I may eat our for 6 weeks straight, then cook for 6 weeks straight. Also I'm single and while I like cooking, I don't want to cook every night so I make family size meals and eat off them for 5 days or so. The meals I typically cook could be...

Steak + some sort of potato and a vegetable side or two

Same as above but with pork chops

Baked chicken and rice, with some vegetables

Baked fish filets, w/potatoes and veggies

Chili

Fried chicken, taters, veggies

Potato soup + cornbread

Ham & Beans + cornbread

Shredded baked chicken, white rice, corn, black beans, rotel, and some BBQ sauce. don't know what to call it but I like it

"Breakfast" burritos

Brats and a couple sides

Salmon patties and mac & cheese

Every once in awhile if I'm lazy I'll make some form of boxed dinner. Could be red beans and rice, could be hamburger helper, could be one of the various asian curry ones, though I haven't really found one that's quite my taste

usually not much as i eat big lunches late in the day (forgot to eat until 2:30 today). i have a freezer full of meat and can't barely work my way through it. i should just cook down the pork butts for the dog (they're old and so will taste off) just to get them out of the freezer.

Some sort of Hamburger Helper type deal - rice, hamburger, onion, who knows

Navy beans with ham and baguette on the side

Brown beans with applesauce and ciabatta bread.

Buttered spaghetti with basil, Creole seasoning, and parmesan on top - no sauce.

Macaroni and cheese sprinkled with parmesan. Takes cheesy to a whole 'nother level.

Chicken casserole, baby carrots.

Basically easy peasy stuff these days.

We're all over the place and don't stick to standard "American" dishes when possible. In the last 7 days we've made:

- Thai Curry chicken soup
- Pan seared strip steak, pan seared scallops, roasted potatoes, lemon marinated asparagus with bacon bits (Valentine's Day dinner with the whole family)
- Tacos with ground turkey (wife allergic to red meat) and homemade taco seasoning
- Bison burgers with tortilla chips and salsa
- Frozen pizza
- Salmon and baked potatoes
- Shrimp scampi and salad

The meals you're referring to - meatloaf, potatoes, peas, are one small geographic portion of the United States. I'd say anyone who is white American who knows how to cook will mostly cook Americanized versions of international cuisine. I might make stir fry one night, then do some Italian pasta, then maybe Greek style Pita pockets with chicken, hummus, cucumber, tomato, etc.

Also I've lived with a Korean person and I find the reverse belief to be true, that Korean food is repetitive. Almost everything is a variation of stir fry or soup, with the same few spices, and very spicy tasting. Nothing sweet.

My spice rack is full of staple spices from each continent.
