Got a question, these are fairly new tyres (~9mths)

Got the alignment adjusted just before the tyres went on, so did the shop set the toe wrong? Very saw toothed pattern. Not happy as they have worn severely

I don't see a "saw tooth pattern"
They look to be a racing tire of some sort, are they a soft compound?

a couple of questions...is the suspension modified from stock in any way? Did the alignment shop check for broken or worn parts before doing the alignment? And did they provide and before and after numbers for the jobs and what are the specs for caster, camber and toe-in?

Generally you do an alignment after new tires are put on, not before. But I'm not too sure what your endgame plan was in this case.

Trolling?

Seriously, what wear pattern are you seeing? Everything looks okay to my eye.

No. Seriously JCH13. Right laptop just died so bear with me. I guess I was expecting too much as depth perception from a pic can be hard. From left to right. There is a definite drop off in depth to the right of the ridge in about the middle of the tyre.

|4mm| |4mm| |ridge| 3mm| |2mm| |2mm|/sawtooth 3mm|

The rears have ~8 mm left. All tyres were replaced at the same time and have done ~8500 miles. Just rotate onto winter tyres as it's been mild up until now and we're for cast snow this week.

Kind of annoyed at myself that I didn't change back in October when I normally do then they might have been worth rotating... currently they are scrap.

The suspension is stock. The alignment was done as part of the MOT and the tyres changed the next day as they were down to 1.9mm and I got an advisory. Was serviced for the MOT and no suspension problems were reported.

Also kinda annoyed as the tyre shop offered an alignment and I said nah as it had been done. I watched them do it, but they didn't provide numbers before/after.

What tires are those? What car are they on? How hard do you drive them?

Dunlop sport max rt. Toyota corrola. Not hard. It's a daily driver. The tyres are rated the same 240 tread wear as the oe Michelin 's which lasted 35 k or there abouts. Remaining 15 k done on winters over a couple of winters. So this is the first real tyre change I've had on this car. Maybe they are way softer despite the similar tread wear rating.

Have been through plenty of tyres on other cars, seen shoulders wear etc, just not seen the weird edging I currently have on the inside edge of these ones.

Found a computerised alignment centre, going to get them to look at. Will post the results. But feel free to speculate...

Treadwear Grades

UTQG Treadwear Grades are based on actual road use in which the test tire is run in a vehicle convoy along with standardized Course Monitoring Tires. The vehicle repeatedly runs a prescribed 400-mile test loop in West Texas for a total of 7,200 miles. The vehicle can have its alignment set, air pressure checked and tires rotated every 800 miles. The test tire's and the Monitoring Tire's wear are measured during and at the conclusion of the test. The tire manufacturers then assign a Treadwear Grade based on the observed wear rates. The Course Monitoring Tire is assigned a grade and the test tire receives a grade indicating its relative treadwear. A grade of 100 would indicate that the tire tread would last as long as the test tire, 200 would indicate the tread would last twice as long, 300 would indicate three times as long, etc.

The problem with UTQG Treadwear Grades is that they are open to some interpretation on the part of the tire manufacturer because they are assigned after the tire has only experienced a little treadwear as it runs the 7,200 miles. This means that the tire manufacturers need to extrapolate their raw wear data when they are assigning Treadwear Grades, and that their grades can to some extent reflect how conservative or optimistic their marketing department is. Typically, comparing the Treadwear Grades of tire lines within a single brand is somewhat helpful, while attempting to compare the grades between different brands is not as helpful.

240 is pretty low. I think the raw power from that massive Corolla power plant is just shredding tires.

Thanks for the info. UK doesn't really state tread wear, so only found out when they were installed. Did check some online tyre sites for reviews thought people people had said their wear was decent.

What power? The corrola isn't satisfying my needs... Seriously thinking of changing for MOAR POWEEER!

Oh for a Matia turbo for fun lol
