Will Ferrell is ok if he's like a side character (like Mugato) and when he has a strong supporting cast and someone that can write a reasonably coherent fun script. Weirdly, I dislike John C Reilly (as a comedic actor) even more, but I didn't hate Step Brothers. But I dislike them in most other comedic things they're involved in.
Other than very limited doses (and now that I think of it, times he wasn't talking), I can't stand his SNL shit (but then I can't stand most of the SNL people from around that time, holy shit they were bad; but it made it easy for their guests to shine, which is why we get more "Best of" from the guests of that time than the cast members).
Seinfeld is not aging well. I used to really like that show, but now some of the bits are just like, "WTF, this was in the 90s? Do you mean the 1890s?" (There's an episode that is Jerry and Elaine go to a dinner at his relative's and then they bad mouth people that have ponies and then the relative ends up having a health issue after she got mad at them because she had a pony when she was a little girl like 60 fucking years ago before immigrating to the US; like WTF who could even relate to that in the fucking 1990s?) There's still some funny stuff that could stand up to time, but there's a lot of that stuff that feels completely insane (and not in the way its intended), and the more time goes by the more that becomes apparent.

That's not a terribly profound concept (although like I posit below, I don't think you're supposed to hate her like that...). Seriously, that's the type of shit that people learn by watching professional wrestling past like the age of 10 (that if you really hated a wrestler, its probably because you were supposed to and it being a sign of them being a great heel, like Bobby Heenan).
Reminds me of the one person on here that rages about Edward Furlong in T2. He's supposed to be irritating little shit, that's the fucking character. If you've ever had to deal with a kid like that, you'd realize that was goddamned brilliant casting.
FYI, I've literally never had someone acting so brilliantly in a comedy that I've gone "oh, they were brilliant, I didn't even think about how I hate them because I'm supposed to!" so that argument is kinda fucking stupid with regards to comedy. Well unless you count Bill Murray being a date rapist in Ghostbusters, but then I was more, wait, I'm supposed to be cheering this guy on?
I rewatched Everything Must Go recently and holy shit, that movie is weird. He gets fired by Dennis from Always Sunny because he got black out drunk and fucking raped a co-worker (which we're supposed to be sympathetic towards him about?!?). Then tries to drink himself to death after his wife leaves him for getting fired. Oh, actually so he didn't even get fired for raping the co-worker, they kinda let that slide, they fired him for continuing to be an alcoholic.
Or how I was supposed to find the predicament charmingly humorous when Michael Caine fucked his friend's underage daughter (who happened to be best friends with his daughter) in Blame it on Rio. But it was ok because the daughter seduced him!!! And look at the wacky hijinx!
Sharon Stone did an amazing job in that movie. She portrayed an terrible junkie that youd love to hate.

I find it odd how often I see people raging about female characters (that you're not supposed to be feeling that way about).
That's because the show is more Larry David than it is Jerry S, and I agree. I do like Jerry in general, but his standup isn't always that great for me. His cars and coffee show is really great though, and helped me to gain a new appreciation for his taste and general ideas about comedy. I definitely respect him more than I did before, even though it was already long-established that Seinfeld is the greatest sitcom ever, despite Jerry Seinfeld.
I almost want to get famous just so I could go on his show and ask Jerry if his problem with colleges is that the women are too old so he can't ask their parents if he can take them on dates.
