Conservative thought is... with "tax cuts" delayed or shoved off the kids table, the market will dive.
how was it on Jan 19th, 2017?The stock market tanked after Election Day 4 yrs ago
It's absolutely cherry picking. You were referencing Obama's performance, so the only thing that makes sense is to look at his whole term.
Although really, the idea that the president has a significant effect on the stock market is stupid anyway.
Between November 2012 and March 2013 the S&P 500 went up 11%. Nice self ownage.

That's fine. We just don't have 8 yrs of Trump to compare it to
We're just looking at different parameters. The stock market had its worst day of the yr the day after the election in 2012:

The stock market had a wonderful day after Trump was elected and that rally has continued.
You think looking at one day is indicative of overall market performance and sentiment? Really? We're just looking at different parameters. The stock market had its worst day of the yr the day after the election in 2012:

Well here's an article from Jan 20th and it sure sounds rosey to me. It even mentions how things went after Obama was elected in 2008:how was it on Jan 19th, 2017?
Barack Obama, meanwhile, suffered the largest election-to-inauguration slump—a decline of nearly 20%—following his Nov. 4, 2008, victory
You think looking at one day is indicative of overall market performance and sentiment? Really?
I say this as someone who works in that industry... HA!
Depends on what you want to show. I'm trying to show the confidence investors have in an administration. Looking at 8 yrs doesn't show thatYes, we are looking at different parameters because you're trying to cherry pick numbers. Trying to look at one day fluctuations in the stock market is stupid and I'm very sure you know it.

The decline was already happening before Election Day. The only thing that changed on Wednesday morning was who won the electionGee, I wonder if that 20% stock market decline something to do with another factor completely unrelated to Obama!
No it really doesn't. The difference between you and me is I know what all was going on that day. There were significant other factors that drew the market down. That was temporary. One of the biggest concerns was that the GOP was going to continue to push the country over the fiscal cliff since Obama was reelected. Your view on it is myopic and wrong. Not just any day. I'm looking at the day after a Presidential Election. That shows investor's confidence level in the new administration

You left this behind when you were 'gathering your data'
How do they compare to the ones that came out BEFORE Trump was elected? How many of those indicators are lagging indicators? Do you know what those even are?Deflect all you want but that doesn't take away from all the positive economic indicators that have come out since Trump was elected.

You do realize that you are complimenting Obama don't you? Let's take a look at the economy 3 months into the presidency of Trump's successor, that will be the best indicator of Trump's effect on the economy.
Please take a look at where the American economy was 3 months into Obama's presidency and where it is now. Pretty damn impressive improvement isn't it?
Now take at where the American economy was 3 months into Bush's presidency and where it ended up 3 months into Obama's presidency. Pretty damn depressing isn't it?

No. No it does not. it does however show a desperate attempt to cherry pick....Not just any day. I'm looking at the day after a Presidential Election. That shows investor's confidence level in the new administration
