And to address the bolded. So the horse and pony show wasn't necessary to begin with. Trump and co just wants to publicize his championed discrimination of people volunteering to serve their country. And currently estimates are that thousands of transgender people currently serve in the military and a very small percentage of them are considering actual reassignment surgeries. There's no reason to get rid of thousands of people serving honorably just for being transgender.

Good for them. Taxpayers should not pay for any of those surgeries or hormones.

In my opinion they could be allowed to serve as long as they do not require any special treatment ( hormones, surgery etc... ), And their "condition" does not impact or prevent them from performing their job.
