Its like AT is avoiding the mATX segment for some odd reason. Which doesnt make sense to me. But who knows. :brokenheart:

The G33 mATX motherboards hit the market not too long ago, and leaving those out of the round-up would make it worthless. However, since they just came out, they're still relatively immature, and so Gary had to wait for bugfixes and such. If you read any of AT's "normal" reviews, you'd know that happens all the time. Toss in regular editorial duties, and it's pretty clear why this could take the better part of a year.
Well, agree or not, that's how reality works, and it's more or less established SOP for tech review sites. I mean, look at this from another perspective: is a review really helpful if it ends with "we stopped the review halfway through because there was a crippling bug in the BIOS, and oh, by the way, it got fixed in the next rev that they sent us"?Originally posted by: chucky2I would not agree with that approach though. If the boards are publically available, then the Intel and the mobo manufacturers better be putting out a quality product w/o issues. If they can't do that, then the boards shouldn't be out there in the first place.

Yes, it damned well is helpful. Certainly more helpful than never getting any information about any of the boards because something new came out. New stuff comes out all the time: chipsets, boards, firmware, whatever. Guess what? You can accumulate a bunch of data, post the article, and when something new comes out, freaking update that article.
As we were in the middle of preparing for our upcoming micro-ATX extravaganza (Yes, you'll finally see it in the very near future!)

more random thoughts later.
The G33, in the form of the Gigabyte DS2R, has been out for many weeks now and is approaching maturity. Its suprising that so few other manufacturers have used this chipset yet. Although Asus and MSI now have a board out. The performance version of the G33 - the G35 - is due out soon.Originally posted by: erwos

Yes, but the round-up started way, way before that. It wasn't meant as a swipe against the current maturity of the G33 motherboards - like I've said in other places, my Intel BOXDG33TLM is absolutely excellent.Originally posted by: D3xx

That's the question. Will they deliver and how long will it take for them to release board specific updates if they do?Originally posted by: chucky2 Be nice if AMD and the board manufacturers can deliver on this. Chuck
Let's cut to the chase before I get the final roundup completed -
