Ubuntu as a printer server?

I have a Win2k box that has a shared USB printer on it. At this point, it's the main printer for my whole network of mostly XP boxes. Is it possible to do this same thing in Ubuntu without getting complicated? This is the only thing holding me back from putting Ubuntu on it.

Sure, you can share printers a number of ways on Linux. The simplest is just to install Samba and let XP connect via SMB.

Does the same go for disk, Nothinman? I'm getting ready to set up Ubuntu on an old PC of my daughter's, and I would like to use the 60 gig disk for network file storage. All the rest of the boxes are XP.

Sure, Samba can do just about anything Windows can in the file/print server department. It can even be a NT4 PDC and the next major release will do AD.
