Overall, I find ubuntu to be very user friendly, installed it on both of my parents computers as a thin client to mine and they've both agreed its easier to figure out than windows was. Anyways, as for your problem, I've never done anything with looking glass, but if you could provide more information as to what's happening, I'd be more than willing to browse around and see what I can figure out. Is there any reason you chose that over compiz? As for your printer, I noticed it is in the list of ubuntu printers and has a driver available for it already in ubuntu so I'm not sure what's going on there. Once again, could you provide a little more information such as how its connected, if it's working at all and you're just missing some features or what. Back to looking glass, what exactly do you mean you can't install any other programs? It sounds like you may just have a broken dependency as I have never really heard of the whole installation process becoming broken but I'm sure its possible. Anyways, perhaps I can be of more assistance upon finding out a tad bit more detail about what exactly isn't working. Ooh, btw, could you post a link to the looking glass guide you used so I may have something to use as reference.
