<<Don't U think that she didn't provocate him? In cases of rape, girl provocation is almost always the cause of rape. And anyway, even if he made her suffer a bit, his life literally ends the day he is imprisoned. Just think about it. A young, successful sophomore with supposedly bright future. He could have a good well-paid job, be married with kids etc. And what now? He has to spend his entire life in hell among dirty, stinkie people - I don't even want to write about the nightmare he will have to go through every day for years on end. I fully expect them to jail him for 20 years. Yikes. Imagine youself in such a situation, noone is safe from jail. Yes, he should be punished, but not so severely. They should leave him a chance to start a new life. >>
Why are you feeling such compassion for someone who decided to rape a minor? How did you make the assumption that she led him on? Did it mention anywhere that she dressed provocatively or flirted? How can you even assume a girl is leading you on and wants sex? Maybe all girls should dress like the women in Afghanistan as to not turn anyone on?
I totally disagree that he could be successful in life with a great family. You know why? Because you chose to throw all that away for one "mistake." Yes it's a mistake but not a boo-boo like you accidently spilling coffee. It's a mistake that ruined that girl's life and his. He's 20 years old right? Pretty well damn old enough to realize the path he chose. He's already going to a decent school. Probably 3 more years to go til he's out of college and he guess it was more worth it to commit the crime. Your argument may work for a minor and by minor I mean very very young. But at the age of 20, his mistake is more of a choice.
