It's not weakness which inhibits forgiveness, but revenge clouds your judgement in such a situation.

I'm not gonna deny that the majority of teenagers out there arent anxious and eager to do this but not everyone is like that and i highly doubt many want it to happen that way. She wont forget it the next day either. What do you expect the punishment to be though honestly? i can think of nothing truly fair. If he is placed in prison he will be violated SEVERAL times over and while the part of me that just wants vengence for that poor girl thinks this is just the logical part of me sees that an eye for an eye tactic is not always appropriate. I dont know what the punishment for this should be. He seemed like he was gonna do it again as well though so what kind of impact should that have on punishment? It was a vindictive crime and both parties will pay for it deerly. I think you should revoke your sterotypical statements of womens wants though and i think you should REALLY think about all that you say before you say it. just my views. i have alot to say on this matter so i will prolly reply more and more as i gather more thoughts.

Possibly what happened to him was that he couldn't, or didn't want to, control his urges, so they overtook him. Once he lost control, his 'intelligence' mattered very little, since he was basically acting on instinct alone.

My three closest friends are girls, & they all say their greatest physical fear is of being raped. Not drowning, not being burned alive, but being raped.

Rape probably is worse than murder. I know my GF would probably have committed suicide if she had been successfully raped. And it's not like she has suicidal tendencies or anything, it's just the only way to send that kind of suffering.

I feel the opposite as you do Orcish, I think in most cases rapists get off very lightly, most do not end up serving long terms, frequently they are able to plea bargain for a lesser crime and so they get off with doing only a few months in many cases. This is unfortunate because it has been shown that those who rape will do it again. Locking them up is not only a punishment, but it is also for the protection of others. I think that a mandatory prison term of 20 years minimum, plus a requirment of chemical castration should be the standard sentence for rapists. In cases where chemical castration would not be a deterrent (sometimes they will just use blunt objects instead), and in extremely violent cases, and in cases where the offender is determined to not have improved his views on women, longer sentences are in order. Violent serial rapists deserve life in prison.

I realize you mean there are some cases where guys are convicted of rape and put away for a LONG time because the judge and jury automatically assume male bad, female good. Then, their sentence is heaped upon in order to make him an example to the rest of the community. Doesn't sound fair to the individual, does it? However, this doesn't sound like one of those cases. I doubt there really are many cases where a guy is teased to the point where he explodes and rapes a girl - sounds way too Hollywood for me. In what situation is "accidental rape" understandable? People who can be that out of control of their emotions are worrying to have out there in any case.

Assuming he did it (which the evidence seems pretty damning), I hope he suffers on a magnitude you or I could never imagine.

The moment he laid hands on her he forfeited his rights, everything changed in an instant.

There is no excuse to do this to a girl(or a guy, in those cases.....)...why would he take it upon himself to take something irriplacable, and then just shrug it off as you seem to say it should go as? He is a danger(if convicted), and SHOULD be put away in one of the methods Viper has posted(nice!). you're saying "just one little mistake" well what about parents who kill their kids, yeah that was a mistake and they are paying for it, people do make mistakes, and are fully aware of the dangers of their actions, or at least should be by the time they are 20 years old, once again, if he's got mental problems, put him somwhere else, just get him away from here. If you have a daughter or any relative or a friend of the family with a young daughter, think about it, you know her, how would she feel......makes me want to puke....
