Outstanding performance by Edgar! Hopefully people take him seriously as the LW champ now. Whether you think he really won in Abu Dhabi, at the very least he was right on the level of BJ Penn who is recognized as one of the greatest of all time.

And here Edgar showed he is even better than Abu Dhabi. He seems to have great skills in all areas of MMA.

Was James Toney able to intelligently speak prior to his boxing career or has he always been impossible to understand?

was very impressed with his ground game, he reversed bj two or three times..

This seemed like a fight from early in BJ's career. He was considered a great technical fighter but lacked heart.. He was defeated in the first 30 seconds of the fight mentally..

BJ has been training non stop for how many years? He needs to be a da kina brada in hilo for a little while and recharge..

Edgar destroyed him, but BJ seemed out of it from the first round.
I think Frankie made BJ "seem out of it"... BJ could not handle Frankie's speed, and Frankie pretty much had the answer (pun intended) for anything BJ threw at him.

I think Frankie won this fight, more than BJ lost it.

BJ vs Frankie was basically a continuation of their last fight. You'd think that BJ's camp would try to learn from the last fight and change things a bit seeing how Frankie moves in the ring, but he fell for the same moves. On top of it, it looks like Frankie improved a bit on his ground game. He won this one no questions asked.

Did you guys see the Lauzon Ruediger fight? Lauzon absolutely steamrolled Ruediger. Incredibly impressive performance by Lauzon.

I have a feeling Maynard is going to beat Edgar again. When Maynard speaks, he seems like he's only a few branches higher on the intelligence tree than Forrest Gump. Him being the champion at LW isn't going to be too pretty.

BJ needs a new camp or head trainer. He looked horrible. He was completely passive and really just reacted and never went after FE until the start of the 4th and that was just a burst.

It's just disappointing because he can be so great but just seems to half ass it.

Steamrolled is a pretty good term for it. Finishing him off with a fairly quick armbar was the mercy Lauzon needed.

Edgar's strength and quickness combo is pretty impressive, not to mention his wrestling ability to not even let Penn hold him down...but Maynard is equally impressive and very efficient. Both have improved since they last fought, and I think this will be a very entertaining fight...edge to Maynard (but would love to see edgar take it...he works so d@mn hard.)

Frankie is the Rodney Dangerfield of MMA. I would not be surprised if he is the underdog in the betting his next go.

I read something I consider profound. Someone mentioned that a boxer gets to bring all of their tools to an MMA match. However, an MMA fighter has to leave most of their's behind for a boxing match.

Well that sort of has to make sense since the first "M" in MMA is mixed and there's nothing mixed about boxing.

this. very much this. his corner really let him down this fight, and has been letting him down. they had absolutely nothing for him garbage like "whoop this guy's ass!"

bj also seems to get really discouraged these days. if he doesn't perform in the first or second round he just seems to lose all hope quickly.

also, hopefully the freak show fights stop now in the UFC. toney should never have been in that cage, and now shaq wants in? really? i can see the draw, i guess, but it's making mma look stupid, even if it was a dominating win.

BJ's problem is what happens to most fighters, He no longer has the fire in his belly. I doubt any trainer or camp can light it again either. Only BJ can do that, and he looks ready to take a break. He should surf, have fun, and just get away from fighting for a while.

I have to disagree with the assessment, that the Toney fight makes MMA look stupid though. It just makes JT look stupid for calling out big names like that. He should have played it like Hershel Walker and Kimbo, and let them feed him cans to crush. Guys tailor made for him, so he could make some easy paydays, and convince more people he is legit.

BJ's physique didn't appear, to me, to be in the same top form it was for the Sanchez or Florian fights either. I think that is a bit of a reflection of his lack of motivation preparing for this fight, and lack of motivation to fight in general. I think it definitely showed in the cage.

Earlier in the broadcast, they were showing BJ back in his locker room, and you see him sitting down in a chair, and he lets out a big yawn. Hardly the demeanor you'd expect to see from someone supposedly pumped up about trying to get his belt back from the man that took it from him.

Yep. BJ's "camp" is a bunch of yes men who wouldn't tell him he was in trouble if his head was severed. It doesn't take an MMA expert to listen to their between-round instructions to realize they were just as lost as he was. In a million years I could not imagine him preparing for this fight, and literally doing nothing different from the first time around.

Only a fool or a myopic BJ hanger-on could devise a fight plan where he’d try to outbox Frankie Edgar.

I used to always yawn before a big race when competing in high school, it's a symptom that comes out of stress

doesn't necessarily mean you are sleepy or under-prepared
