I'm not sure anything has changed. Neither of the fighter's cardio was tested. from the replay, cain got a clean shot on Brock's chin which caused brock to slip and tumble across the ring and that was it.

No amount of cardio training can save you if you get rocked and dazed.

Wow. How did Brock run out of gas three minutes in? Valesquez did what Carwin couldn't, struck intelligently instead of gassing himself out.

Brock looks like he got beat by a bat. Cain looks like he squeezed a shit out.

Brock wasn't gassed, he was rocked. Cain hit him flush while they were on the fence and that was the beginning of the end.

Brock came out very intense, and I guess as a game plan it does make some sense because he probably knew he couldn't stay with Cain into the 4th and 5th so wanted to finish it earlier.

Also, keep in mind this is Brock's what 7th MMA fight EVER? Give him some credit, the "greats" everyone keeps comparing him to (which is natural) how good were they looking their 7th fight in, let alone the competition he's faced in such a short time?

He's been doing it for 2 years. Relax with the fighters with 20+ fights over 10-20 years, let him develop as he still clearly has holes in his game.
