Silvia is so damn good its frightening. the bad part is how he acts. half the time it seems he gets more boos then cheers (thought not in Brazil heh)

but i don't think there is anyone better. he is P4P the best ever.

Its a show. He does it to make the fight more exciting. Same way Mayweather trash talks everyone into hating him, making everyone want to buy his fights hoping he would lose, but in the end makes a shit ton more money.

okami had worst gameplan ever

You know, I'd be curious to know if that *was* the gameplan. Hindsight is 20/20 but the only guys to ever put it on Silva in the UFC had to get Silva on the ground. I mean was the plan to stand and bang? If so, that was awful. He trained w/ Chael Sonnen!!!

What a plan......That's like saying, yeah, give Nowitzki the 18 Foot jumper. We're going to make him beat us out there....

Haha, enjoyable analogy.

Silva's greatest asset imo is his cat-quick reflexes which is by far in a league of his own. He's nearly impossible to set up without opening up oneself in the process because his mind sees things so quickly and exploits them as opportunities.

Sonnen was successful because he stormed Silva with very strong and efficient take downs. That kind of efficiency against someone as quick as Silva was surreal, but putting a body on Silva is the only way to have a chance.

These two guys need a rematch before any Jones-Silva talk happens. I also don't think it's wise for Jones to fight out of his weight class for a while. He's too young and relatively inexperienced. Jones has made it look easy, but all matchups provide different challenges, and he needs to see more before taking on Silva.

You mean the guy who was caught using roids and Silva winning with a broken rib?

Me too! They really hyped up how Okami and Sonnen were training partners and how Sonnen was coaching him on how to beat Silva. Either that was a total lie or Okami just froze and didn't do what he was "supposed" to.

First off, Silva is a slow starter. Come after him quick. Don't let him get into his rhythm and feel you out. Don't be intimidated by him. (Easier said than done) If he "gives you his chin" take a swing. I have no idea why Okami tried to stand up with him. It seemed like he was hoping to knock him out on his feet. I didn't expect Okami to have the same takedown skill as Sonnen, but with a Judo blackbelt, I did expect him to clinch and get some type of takedown. It seemed he didn't want to do that.

Yeah, Sonnen is a cheater; but, that wasn't why he came so close to beating Silva. Sure, the roids helped, but what helped him more was that he wasn't scared of Silva. He talks a lot of B.S., but he's the only guy who brought it to the Spider from the opening bell.

Props to Silva, though. He's setting records that will probably be around for a long time...and making his opponents look like amateurs.

When Minotauro KO"d Schaub I frickin' jumped out of my seat. I was sportin' my Minotauro shirt and all

Plus when Anderson gets his timing and distance (usually in the late 1st, early 2nd round) and gets into his kill mode, you know $hit is about to get crazy. It's honestly like he gets into the Matrix and knows exactly what's going to happen before it actually happens. He stands there with hands down and chin out then dodges a punch and puts guys down on their ass WITH A JAB!! The last time Okami was TKO was in 2003 and Anderson put him down initially with a jab. There is nobody left at MW for him. I say give Palhares a crack at him and by that time set up a Jon Jones vs Spider match.

I don't think Paul Harris offers Silva much. Silva will outstrike him easily. He doesn't posses the wrestling to get him down. I think it'd look a lot like Silva vs. Maia.

WTF was wrong with Forrest? Could he have looked more stiff/nervous/shit-his-pants-scared? Never seen him look worse. I picked every fight on the Spike prelim + the main card correctly except the one I bet. FML

Supposedly his wife went into labor that day (9 days early). I haven't read any concrete confirmation, but an article said that he flew back to NV that night on Dana White's private jet.

He even said he felt "off". His plan was to counter and make Rua pay for any big misses. He admitted that he had the opportunity, but just didn't pull the trigger.

Not a good time to fight a motivated, healthy, in-shape Rua if you're a "brawler".

I think the only time I was ever impressed by Forrest was when he fought Bonnar the 2nd time. He's just an oversized, slow, plodding light heavyweight at this point. On a personal level, he seems hilarious and would be awesome to have as a friend, but as an elite-level fighter, I think he's a little overmatched.

BTW

Fedor is still GOAT.

The GOAT can't have lost to 4 japanese cans.
The GOAT can't consistently be beating people much smaller than himself.
The GOAT has to have a streak better than Fedor's.

Wow you still are spouting this crud even though I corrected you last time you tried to pull this.

1) Anderson Silva has not lost to 4 Japanese cans - His first loss to Yushin Okami was a disqualification for an illegal kick when he was dominating the match.
2) He was beating the hell out of Ryo Chonan when Chonan pulled off a crazy flying heel hook. Chonan was the DEEP middleweight champion. He has beaten Hayato Sakurai (who at one time was considered the best P4P in the world), Carlos Newton (former UFC WW champ), and Joey Villasenor. He has losses to Dan Henderson, Karo Parisyan, and Ricardo Almeida. He was not and never has been a can.
3) Daiju Takase was a can who got lucky against an overconfident Silva in his 10th pro fight.
4) Luiz Azeredo is Brazilian not Japanese and while not a great fighter has had some success in Bellator and would be considered a journeyman not a can. This loss was Silva's 3rd pro fight.

The GOAT can't be washed up at the age of 34 (yes younger than Silva).
The GOAT can't spend most of the end of his career fighting inferior opponents only get beat down when finally gets in the ring with quality opponents.
The GOAT can't be knocked out by a smaller fighter who has been submitted by Silva and beaten by Jake Shields who is a welterweight.

fedor is not the GOAT anymore. As much as i hate silva he is. well its a toss up between him and GSP both are amazing fighters and both control the fight and dictate where it goes.

Fedor was great and had an amazing run. but no longer the #1 over all fighter (still top 5 though)

??? - They are all middleweights....well except James Irvin and Forrest Griffin who are 205ers, so I guess 205ers are much smaller than 185ers now???

Dude I love Fedor as much as anyone else. He (along with Big Nog) is one of my favorite fighters ever. HE should be the GOAT discussion. However the ease with with Anderson dominates people puts him in the discussion as well, people shouldn't deny that.

Fedor, Anderson, GSP (even though he's incredibly boring lately) are the top 3 ever. Most people would agree with this.
