Still not a fan of Jones, but I do have more respect for him.

jones is 205 class. and jones had to cut weight to get down to 205

edit:
Jones had to cut ~10% of his weight to get to 205

Silvia has talked about going up. But i just don't see JOnes being able to stay at 205. he is still young and is going to put on more muscle. his legs are way to skinny.

but hell the rashad vs jones fight will be great.

Jone's needs to spend some time under the Squat Rack to build up those scrawny stick legs of his. I see how he got the name "bones". he's just so boney.

yeah i wonder how he would do vs guys who attack the legs.

Look at Kimbo Slice. MASSIVE arms, but scrawny legs. a few leg kicks and he buckles.

rampage kicked him 4-5 times and it looked as if it was starting to have an effect on jones. I also wonder if he fights someone who will attack them and has some strong leg kicks.

Silva's walking weight outside of the ring is around 220lbs, so it's very possible for him to be in the 205 class.

Yeah good point he's only making the top of the food chain @ 205 look like toddlers fighting their father.

You mean like Shogun? Or Brandon Vera? TKO'd both.

IMO Jones will destroy all comers for the foreseeable future.

PS if you guys haven't seen the fight metric, it's fucking pathetic. Just like I thought Rampage was going to come out walk around and do NOTHING then lose. It took a little longer than I though, but he did fucking nothing. he didn't even land a single fucking power shot to the head. lols @ Rampage nut huggers. Dude is an ignorant dumbass strongman with very little actual talent.

i think Jones is just that much athletically superior, and not that Rampage is a low-lvl fighter

Rampage is barely top 10 now and that's simply because people fear his power so they don't fully engage with him. He hardly trains and hasn't taken MMA serious in years. Look at his last few fights, he plods forward slowly throwing the same punches every fight. He has no diversity, he plain sucks now. Look at the fightmetric bud. The guy landed 16 significant strikes in 4 rounds. That's pathetic.

I think BFDD has a point.

Rampage has had questionable heart for years.....his ring should be fired for his game plan..

The one thing that was working..they stopped....WTF

He didnt want this fight... and it showed..

rampage deserves all the nut hugging he gets. just as jones does now.

in his prime (he is not the same fighter he was in pride) he was one scary mother fucker. he had a great combination of strength (his fucking slams were nasty) and power to knock you out anytime.

I think he lost the desire and heart to fight. i suspect his little run in with the law and the rumors of it causing the lady to miscarriage did some damage to his psych. it seems when he started to not care about fighting as much.

Jones is the man now. He has the range, strength and skill to use it. I don't see anyone right now being able to beat him. rashad might but i very much doubt it. Jones has beat 2 very good wrestlers and made them look like amateurs. then tools rampage and rua both of which are damn good fighters. but someone will come along and beat him. when? who knows. the kid (and he is a kid! only what 23? and he is stil learning!) has a great future. though i do suspect he will move up a weight class soon.

rampage doesn't deserve further nut hugging and he hasn't for awhile. even in his victories the guy looks bleh. floating by on your power and reputation are not things to respect.

One of the things about Rampage is that as he's aged, he's gotten more careful and measured. Add in deteriorating physical ability and fights against the best in the world, and you end up with stats like the ones bfdd linked here. Terrible. Regrettable. Embarrassing. He's become the Shane Mosely of MMA. Well maybe not quite that bad, but close.

I think his only chance was to get into a brawl, and instead he wanted to box. How is that a good idea? Jones is younger, faster, and he's got almost a foot reach on him. I would've like to have seen Rampage using the clinch, then firing hooks and uppercuts in and out of it when they separate. But he wouldn't do that. At the end of the day it was a lot like playing a shooter with the cheats on. It's only mildly entertaining and it wasn't any secret the end was coming soon.

Off the top of my head I don't remember how many more fights he has on his contract, but I think we may have seen the end of Rampage in terms of being a relevant participant in the LHW division. I would expect him to probably fight Tito or God forbid the Iceman rolls out of retirement for a rematch.

He has legions of fans, so I would certainly not be surprised to see him stick around if he chooses to. Rematches with Forrest and Shogun, hell even Machida, would be compelling match ups.

Chuck is not coming back, he is a VP with UFC, so money is no longer a motivator.

As to JBJ: I think any loss in the near future would be due to him beating himself. He matches up favorably with everyone in the division. I am also puzzled why so many think Lyoto is the guy to beat him. He might be able to go 5 rounds without getting stopped, but no way he'd get the decision.

The Rampage fight showed us how his style is going to be judged from here on out. Aggression and Octagon control are going to be given to his opponent. Which means he will have to convincingly win the striking and grappling against his opponents every round. Since the first 2 rounds with Rampage saw little happen, QJ won both on that criteria alone.

woah.. silva cuts 20%!?!
Maybe after a long layoff due to injury I'm sure he could get up to that. But most fighters are like that. During camp they probably drop a bit getting into shape then the week before the fight they drop more then the weigh-ins they drop the water weight.

I thought I've heard Chael Sonnen say he's walked around at 215-220 lbs and I think Anderson is just as big as him. I'm not sure what they weight on fight night though.

You honestly think Rampage won the first two rounds? WTF? You're high guy. Sorry you don't win a round being out struck DOUBLY on top of being out muscled in the clinch. Rampage didn't win a single round and he looked like crap. Stop making excuses for the guy, he's a fucking professional and gets paid big money to entertain us. If he's not going to fight up to his level of pay and hype, then fuck him I have no interest in watching him fight any more.

Also, he wants Griffin now. Of course he does because he wins this time. Griffin doesn't give a fuck any more, he looked like utter garbage in his last fight. He simply showed up to collect a pay check.

Anderson Silva has no issues fighting at 205. He has fought twice at that weight in the UFC, winning first round KOs over James Irvin and Forrest Griffith (the infamous run Forrest run fight). To me he looks better at 205, more muscled and his punching power seems to be even more potent. There was a lot of talk around the time of those two fights of him stepping up to challenge for the LHW title, but Machida won the title around that time and they are good friends who will not fight each other.

Since then the talk about Silva stepping up in weight has died down some. I would love to see him take on Jones, I think it may be the best matchup in all of MMA right now.
