Wish I could see this one, can't wait for the recap

I would like to see Brock win this. Unfortunately if he loses I think he's going to be on his way out and he is a really entertaining fighter. Overeem should still have to prove his worth for a few more fights.

I see Overeem winning, but with people this big it could go either way. Brock is too inconsistent of a fighter to really have a good betting edge honestly

this fight is going to be great. way i see it going (1 of 2 ways) is IF reem can a knockout in the 1st or early 2nd. IF it goes longer i see Brock finally hitting that great takedown and mounting reem for GNP.

it's to evenly matched to say witch way it will go. either way i don't see this fight going t he distance.

Reem's take down defense is pretty impressive, even better than Cain. and u saw how ineffective Brock was against Cain when he couldnt get him on the ground.

Reem winner

Reem winner

Brock took Cain down twice, and Cain typically utilizes a lower, wider stance than Overeem.

The issue is, Cain popped right back up thanks to excellent lower body size/strength and conditioning, allowing him to continue his stand up domination. Overeem doesn't have quite the same build or cardio.

This fight is going to be be an interesting matchup for sure!

After watching a fight promo I want to see Diaz lose, that guy had a crappy attitude, the other guy seemed legit. Overeem seems to have way more experience, Lesnar better be taking this serious.

On a side note, Spike is running a 'Best of Pride' marathon now. Watching some classics like Big Nog against Overeem, Wanderlei Silva against Yoshida, Rampage against Silva ... great to see these classics leading up to the big UFC fight.

Cause a 6'5" full-time athlete who heavy lifts gaining 10-15 lbs per year over 3 years is clearly evidence of substance abuse.

In one of his first heavyweight fights in November 2007 he weighed in at 224. At his next fight in June 2008 he weighed 254. I find it hard to believe that someone who had already been a professional fighter for years could gain 30lbs in 8 months naturally.

15lbs a year of a professional heavy lifter with a proper diet is completely doable. However, he disproportionately grew in places where you can not work out. Just look at his head. Now, look at his growth compared to others who packed on a ton of muscle. This is a tell of HGH users. Barry Bonds is a great example.

I hope big Lesnar wins. I think if he's sharp and confident in there he will win. But I guess overall, I feel pretty close to how the oddsmakers put it which I think is like 60/40 Overeem.

For Diaz-Cerrone, I kind of want Nate to win. I don't like the Diaz bros especially Nick and their Stockton weed shit, but I dunno about Cerrone. Plus he is a big threat IMO to my man Frankie Edgar (if he gets by Henderson).

Rest of the fights should be pretty sweet. I say we see a pretty motivated Jon Fitch to try and impress people and the UFC.

But yeah I think Cerrone will tear up Diaz.

I kind of see Overeem getting a guillotine. He has used them in previous fights and Brock is definitely going to duck down and charge in with his huge neck out.

I love all of the promos where it's all about these two fucking giants about to battle. Big simple Lesnar rocks. I don't think he'll weigh 290 lbs. I think a month or so ago he said he weighed 278lbs IIRC. I think he's lost a bit since his early fights especially after his illness (as I would expect him to, but he's still huge). I would think a big guy like that could definitely cut 30 lbs. Guys at 170 lbs can walk around at 190 lbs or more. Heck I think even someone like Dominic Cruz (135) walks around at 155 lbs. As a % of weight, I think a HW could easily do the 30.

As Chris Cope would say: WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

you should want to see your favorite challenged by the best imo
Hah, yeah. But man Frankie has a stack of tough challengers starting with a very tough Ben Henderson!

JackBurton: Really? I thought it was tomorrow. And they just weighed in today so I'd expect it to be tomorrow. Either way I want to see that Fedor is the man hope he can get a couple of good wins together.

Overeem used to cut down to 205 lbs back in 06. Most light heavyweights cut from a walking around weight of around 230-240 lbs down to the 205 for weigh in before packing around 20-30 lbs back on for fight night. He probably cut from near the bottom of this range as well (he didn't look huge when he fought at 205). I've heard estimates that he cut from around 225 lbs or so.

In 07, he cut to 224 lbs.

In June 08 during Dream 4, he cut to 240 lbs, not 254 lbs (254 was incorrect translation from kg to lbs):

http://mmafrenzy.com/2742/dream-4-weigh-in-results/

In late 2009 (Dream 12 fight) he came in at 254 lbs. At a 265 lb cap, he's probably not cutting very much if at all, since he doesn't need to to come under the cap.

Again, we're talking about a guy who is 6'5" and lifts very very heavy and constantly eats. You can watch the many videos available of his routines.

16 lbs in 8 months isn't out of the question for someone of that size.

Please don't get me wrong. I wouldn't bet against substance abuse sometime in his history. Japanese promotions tend to be very lax in terms of testing. However, I don't think it's quite as simple as looking at his weight and or body structure gains over the years and say that's instant evidence of it.

Side note regarding weigh-in weight vs fight weight: Even women fighting in the 145 lb category cut from 165 lbs or more. Christiane "Cyborg" Santos is 5'8" and and says she has a walking around weight of around 165. I doubt there's one guy fighting at 170 that weighs under 200 walking around.

Yeah it is tomorrow, 1am EST tomorrow. Just verified on my guide. Kind of tricky.

Being a former wrestler myself I'm all too familiar with weight cutting. However, Overeem didn't cut weigh for the Bunetello fight as the weight limit was 265. It does appear that you are correct about his weight at Dream 4. IMO 16lbs in 8 months is the high end of what is possible without PEDs so I'm still skeptical.

I also use common sense. If someone is bigger than any human being prior to the 1970s there's a good chance that they're taking something.
