He was getting lit up and on his way out, so might as well take a chance. Diaz made it look pretty easy on the ground though, but again, he was basically done anyways from strikes and probably fatigue.

Connor's power doesn't seem to work as well with 155ers. And I consider this essentially a 155 fight. Diaz isn't even known for KO ability. Heck, Diaz hit Johnson like a million times and didn't hurt him at all. Connor should probably stay at 145. The 155ers are going to be too big for him, although him fighting any of the top 5 155ers would still be fun. I'd like to see him fight Ferguson, mainly for the pre fight trash talk. Diaz should challenge Lawler. That would be another big money fight while Rory and Wonderboy shake out number 1 contender spot.

Thought this fight was well worth watching. Both guys did put up a good fight and went all out. Obviously Diaz still had much more in reserve left both on the feet and on the mat, and Conor basically took too many hits.

UFC's golden boy did decent in round 1, as Nate started out very slow. Diaz got warmed up and Connor TOOK DOWN a BJJ wizard because he couldn't stand with him. Connor has almost zero ground game. Taking Diaz down lol? He literally gave up and said fuck it. He showed zero heart at that point. Nate slapped him like 4 or 5 times to add insult to injury.

Also Diaz had 10 days to prep for the fight and had no camp. So all things considered, Connor did absolutely terrible imho. Nate was making excuses in the post fight show interview, he fucking smashed dude to the point Connor took him down as a quick way out. Just imagine what Nate would have done to him with a full training camp. When a fighter finishes the fight and still makes excuses, it doesn't say much about the other fighter imho.

Rockhold did the same thing against Weidman, and to this day Chris is extremely butt hurt lol. Connor's dream of holding multiple belts was ended by a fight Dana made thinking 100% his uber hype boy would easily win. He clearly will only do well against manletts, and a few of those imho could take him.

Wasn't he talking about going up to 185? LOLOLOLOLOL a few days ago he was acting like he could go to 185 and beat up Robbie. He's a classless asshole, even compared to Diaz. I remember when he fought Siver, at the post fight conference Siver was very humble and respectful yet Connor was still talking all sorts of shit about him.

Not much.

He just didn't have to cut any weight at all.

He was eating huge meals and still only weighed in at 168 with no cut.

It's not just like that in the womens division. The champion gets paid min 500k i believe. The other fighters it's based on amount of fights.

McGregor had to shoot for a takedown. He was hurt bad and was hoping to just secure some top position to gather himself. Unfortunately for him, Diaz is spectacular from his back and could easily turn it around and get the upper hand. McGregor again gave up his back because he had to avoid getting KO'd. Diaz was quick enough to grab the choke.

For what it's worth, I don't think McGregor fought badly. He would have destroyed any 145lb guy with that first round. Unfortunately, he was fighting not only a 170lb guy, but a tough as shit one that has been hurt and fought through it before. Even if Diaz was actually hurt from those shots in the first round, he has been in bad situations before and knows how to handle it. McGregor, on the other hand, doesn't. He even admitted in the post fight interview, he gassed out and then panicked.

conor put on about 6lbs of new muscle for the 155lb fight beyond his normal walking weight. He will need to shed that to fight again at 145.
