Also is a professional ducker. Ofc he wouldn't take the fight short notice, he have to actually show up. And he wasn't the only person to turn down the fight.

Most high level fighters turn down fights on short notice, especially if they werent in a training camp. Usually guys that do need to make a name for themselves, jump the queue because of a recent loss, or they are on the verge of getting cut. Also if a title if on the line, but then usually the champ wont take that fight either. Heck, even Jon Jones didnt fight Chael on short notice, and Jon beat his ass when they eventually fought. Aldo was just cleared to resume training after his medical suspension, so its not like he was even in the gym the last couple months. He'd also have to cut weight. Remember, Diaz wasnt going to take the fight at 155. Its not enough time. And Edgar and Holloway were injured.

Dana and Conor framed it like everyone was ducking him, but I think at least 4 of the top 5 lightweights wanted that fight. Most of which were in shape because they either just fought or were in training camp, and Dana and Conor chose the one that wasnt. haha Even BJ Penn was willing to step up. I dont blame Aldo for wanting to be on a level playing field with Conor, especially since Conor already knocked him out cold.

BJ Penn wasn't in shape in his last fights, let alone, now that he's been out for awhile.

He's been at Jacksons for a month or so, but I'm sure Conor would have wrecked him even on a full camp. Point is, I dont think anyone was necessarily ducking him. Aldo's mistake was saying he'd fight Conor any time any place while on medical suspension. That just makes no sense, but I guess he was still a bit salty. lol

Jon took a TON of shit from everyone for not accepting that easy fight.

I agree with that you are saying about prep, camp all that, HOWEVER, you don't use that excuse after you state numerous times you'd fight him any time any where. Don't trot that shit out there because it's not true (Aldo). He's talking all this shit about Conor, the same guy that made him cry in his locker room for a long as time and is trying to spin it like somehow Conor is scared of a rematch. Basically what I'm saying is Aldo should keep his mouth shut until he signs a new fight.

BJ Penn doesn't look like he's in shape though for the most part. He's the flabbiest skinny fighter i have ever seen. I guess that's how he stays so flexible.

Yeah, but by talking shit it seems as if Conor and the UFC are leaning towards Aldo. It was kinda bad luck for Aldo in a way, because RDA doesnt pull out of fights so talking shit should have been safe. hahaha

Cerrone will pretty much fight anyone at any time, just sayin.

Cowboy was willing to fight Conor, and he was in shape and they have beef, but I think Conor and Dana were trying to stack the deck. Nate implied that Conor knew this was going down well in advance and Conor didnt deny it. I think Conor probably meant Nate was always the backup, they just didnt tell him.

He is however one of the most capable, if not the most capable lightweight/welterweight fighter ever in the UFC. Would be interesting to see a prime BJ Penn against a prime Aoki.

And he had every right to refuse that fight, and he had all the blame put on him, when most of the blame for the event getting cancelled was not the fault of Jon Jones at all.

Except for, you know, the other big guys in the division. Edgar beat him three times, GSP twice, Hughes before he got too old, Diaz, McDonald, etc. Penn had his day, but he couldn't compete with the elite of the division. Especially, if they went longer than a round or two without being submitted. Penn gassed out in 2009, it's 2016. He would have gassed faster than McGregor did.

Cowboy is far too much of a jobber to headline a UFC with someone like Conor. Cerrone is great against other undercard scrubs, but he can't content for any titles. It wouldn't surprise me if Dana had the idea of Diaz as a backup (for RDA or McGregor). He has looked great and his last fight was good. Diaz also just talked a bunch of shit and will show up to fight. Cerrone will show up to collect his check.

Eh, he wasnt at his peak for most of those fights. That is the fault of BJ Penn of course, but at his full potential he was one of the greatest fighters ever in the UFC.

haha Thats a little unfair. Losing to RDA, Pettis, Diaz and Benson is understandable. We still dont know if Conor is on that level at lightweight. He already lost to a common opponent (Diaz), and Nate didnt finish Cowboy, but he finished Conor. The other common opponent (Siver) Cowboy finished faster. Cowboy has a solid chin, but getting disemboweled has given him an obvious weakness. Still, most fighters aren't good enough to take advantage of it.

Cowboy is probably not championship material, but he's definitely a top 5 gatekeeper sort of guy. If you can't beat Cowboy you shouldnt be thinking about a title shot. It would have been a fun fight, but I dont think anything could have topped what we got in UFC 196.

i dont think cowboy wants to be champ. That means hard fights forever. He likes getting in there beating up a dude making some money and bouncing back to the compound for craziness.

Cerrone just fought for the title recently, yeah he lost but he had been on a fucking streak. I wouldn't say he folds in big fights, he loses to fighters who are extremely fucking tough to beat. RDA would walk thru Conor, and probably anyone else. In the past 2 years he beat Barboza, Henderson, Alverez, Miller & Jury. Henderson's a former champ and still top 5 LW's on the planet, Alverez came into the UFC with super legit hype. Miller's a contender, Barboza's legit & Jury was unbeaten. Even if Jury's competition wasn't top level he was a big prospect. RDA cleaned Cerrone's clock, but nobody would have beat him that night imho.

Just my opinion but he's still a contender and will probably earn another title shot. He'll fight anyone at any time, and usually wins too.

Good. Good. GOOOOOOOD!!!!! Deny and underestimate that which is conflicting with your imprinted way of thinking. Let your defense mechanisms flow through you.
