Wow, all the UFC nuthuggers are going to find out what Pride is all about. Now if UFC could just get Fedor to come on over and take the heavyweight, the Pride takeover would be complete.

Just think Rampage was only the 4th or 5th best 205er in Pride and he destroyed the wonderful Chuckie.

funny, cause crocop got crocopped. stop nuthugging pride.

yeap crocop was great. what a amazing fight. oh wait. he got the fvck knocked out oops.

Oh yeah he fought an elite UFC fighter who kicked his ass.

Oh wait, Crocop fought a relative unknown new fighter who hasn't been fighting in the UFC for any great amount time. Crocop got caught by a lucky kick.

You can call Rampage's punch lucky but I call it bad technique on Chuck's part.

so if crocop fought a relatively unknown fighter, shouldn't have he done better? from what i saw, he got his ass ground and pounded, and lucky for him, herb dean stood them up. the call was total BS though, i've seen people on the ground for longer and with less pounding.

pride is not the end all/be all of MMA, and neither is UFC. now that UFC and pride are together, we should all be glad that we can get better fighters and more interesting fights.

I'm not into Pride > UFC or whatever but with Shogun & Henderson coming to UFC... it's gonna be much tougher for UFC guys like Chuck to get back to the top.

Yeah from another angle it looks like he was knocked out. From original angle it looked like he defended, but in reality he didnt. Good stoppage

How lucky was it? Gonzaga meant to kick him in the head and he landed it. It's not like CroCop tripped and fell on Gonzaga's foot. And up until that point Gonzaga was controlling the fight on the ground. CroCop admitted as much and stated that he was more or less dazed after getting back on his feet from the earlier GnP.

I do agree that Chuck's got bad defense though. It's about time someone beat down a 37-yr old who doesn't keep his hands up. UFC's LHW has been weak w/ no one to seriously challenge him. Hopefully more of Pride's LHWs will come in and I will be entertained by fights and not by Tito's mouth.

I had to watch it like 3 times just to get a good look at the right...no wonder liddell didn't see it coming. :Q

Great stop by the ref, Liddell couldn't even think straight to cover up.

A lot of pretty fast fights. I don't think I'll bother with UFC 72, but UFC 73....wow!

Karo was great as usual, never a boring fight.

Houston's nickname is "The Dean of Jardine". He really pounded Keith.

Terry Martin is looking quite serious after his last couple of fighters. That dude is like a little Mike Tyson tank.

Leben/Starnes was entertaining...kind of sloppy though.

Chuck got caught by Rampage. Could have happened the other way. And it was a good stoppage by Big John. Chuck was clearly out of it and only woke up to "defend" after Rampage punched him and it woke him up. Chuck argued right after, but I don't think he knew what was going on. I'm sure today he would say it was a good stop.

they don't let it go as far as some boxing matches i have seen.

Not a fair comparison. In boxing you can't hit your opponent while they are down legally. In the UFC the ref has to be extremely aware of the state of both fighters, because a guy on the ground getting hit with those small gloves is life threatening if he can't defend himself.

While I think the doctors in the UFC are wildly inconsistent and occasional unprofessional, the refs in UFC are rock solid and far less varied in quality than in boxing. There was a recent boxing bout where the ref had been banned in the states because he had literally given advice to a boxer to the effect of, "you are winning, just stay away from him". It was a championship bout too, I believe.

Seems like a lot of people are complaining about the quality of the PPV event. No surprise here... I already stated in a previous thread that I was worried that the UFC PPV events are too numerous and causing dilution of quality fights.

Tito vs Evans looks interesting.

BTW, thanks to whoever posted the link listing local bars carrying UFC. I had no idea that "Pedro's" carried UFC. This could change everything!

both this fight and the crocop fight are obviously flukes

they both need to rematch and get this argument over with

OR, what if they were to do a ROYAL RUMBLE?!?!?!? wow, that would be amazing.

Rampage win over Chuck can't be counted as a fluke since this is the second time Rampage has defeated him. Chuck's problem is that he hasn't fought a capable striker for quite some time.

Cro Cop's loss can be considered a fluke since he was once KTFO by Kevin Randleman but was able to comeback and avenge it in a rematch. Gonzaga looks like he could be a legit heavyweight but only time will tell.

I'm sorry, but if you watched the Cro Cop fight it was no fluke. Gonzaga dominated Cro Cop the entire fight. CC looked like he didn't care enough or wasn't initially scared of Gonzaga. In the grand scheme of things I would say Gonzaga beating the #2/#3 HW in the world was very surpising, I wouldn't necessarily call it a fluke.

And Rampage over Chuck I'll agree it was not a fluke either. It could be considered a fluke b/c it was a single shot KO (basically) but when a guy throws a punch and it connects I don't consider it lucky, unless he just puts his head down and throws.

CroCop got destroyed with that kick, and was just fighting very poorly for a fighter of his calibure. He said he's going to retire after his contract is up (4 fights) I gather he's either sick of fighting or doesn't like UFC. Rampage Vs Ice Man 3 will be good, I admire Liddell fans for their dedication to the man as the greatest thing since sliced bread. But I'd like Rampage to ****** him up a 3rd time, not 1 punch but more like he did in the first fight so I can tell them to STFU, But #2 he got Knocked The Chuck Out!

I mean he's fought Randy and Tito twice and Horn (who I like but isn't a potential champion). Babalu was having delusions of grandeur or something. Rampage can charge Chuck like that, that's his style. Babalu can't (obviously).

Chuck's being coddled by the UFC because they want to keep him as the champ/poster boy. I hope Jackson beats him. I say TKO in the 2nd.

What I'd really, really like to see is Brandon Vera cut down to 205 (from the looks of him it's very doable). He hasn't fought in a while, but he would be a monster at 205. He was doing very well as a heavyweight (against not that great of opponents), but if he dropped to 205...Man, watch out Chuck/Jackson.

Good card overall. Chuck finally got what was coming to him. Quick fight, but good stoppage.

Karo looked great. Singing was stupid, but he deserves a little celebration.

Martin fight was ok. Salaverry didn't look that crisp, though. Martin just wants to get that whole "flying knee" thing behind him (Ironically, it looks like Irvin fought on an undercard as well)

Jardine.....well, only one thing to say to him...."You got knocked the f*$@ out!" Multiple times.

Starnes/Leben? Boring. Not a huge fan of either of them.

One of the best fights of the night, besides Berkman/Parisyan was Thomas/Stephens. That arm bar came out of nowhere. Usually, you can tell when a guy is moving for it, but he set it up really well. I don't do jiu-jitsu, but man! That was a sweet submission.
