The bar I was at was pretty sad - lots of guys in "Tapout" or "Affliction" shirts talking a big game, like they have any experience with fighting. Good fight though I guess - I'm looking forward to Nog and Mir. Mir talks a lot of shit about he's a better athlete in ever way...Nog doesn't say much but a fist to the face or a triangle does all the talking he needs.

so anyone with that wears a tapout or affliction shirt talking about mma is just a poser?

Wannabe's who wear tapout or affliction gear are quickly becoming the laughing stock. They remind me of all the girls who got lower back tattoos a few years ago because it was considered the cool thing to do, but now they are the laughing stock.

the way i see it, how else do you express your liking of the sport? football & other sports have jerseys and shirts. hell, even pro wrestling has shirts for the wrestlers. all mma has really is shirts by tapout and the like. anyone who has a shirt is clearly just a wannabe poser, it couldn't be that they actually like the sport and want to express it.

Meh, fight went just as I expected. Lesnar hits fairly hard and throws his weight around. He's good to bring popularity to the sport I guess, but bad for anyone who likes watching technique. The only thing good that I saw from him was when he pinned Couture's arm with his leg because that's happened to me and its bastardly.

As far as fans go, I really don't care who is a "fan" and how they express themselves. Not everyone that watches football knows how to play. Certainly most people that watch mma don't have much of a clue on fight technique.

It looked to me like Randy was scared to let go of the logs for fear of getting clobbered inside. It is scary seeing how big he was against Randy. Unfortunately he looked very raw still and if Nogueira fights him in the next six months, he will get subbed really quickly.

Ayup. It was clearly Randy's strategy to gas out Lesnar and it was looking good but, as you saw, all it took was one good clean strike and Randy was done. Lesnar is just too strong.

Haha, that wasn't even that hard of a punch. It just hit the right spot. Go learn what a hook is.

yeah, but most knowledgeable football fans don't give the guy wearing a team's shirt a hard time if he doesn't know the ins and outs of everything. the mma snobs and think-they-know-it-alls are much more annoying to me than some frat guy wearing a tapout shirt that just started watching ufc in 2008.

I don't really like Noguera. I find his fights to be pretty boring for the most part. I like Mir, but he's too cocky to ever be amazing.

However, lesnor had better hands then I expected. Not great hands, but good hands. He caught randy nice and that was that. Good fight.

Randy already said on Inside MMA that Couture/Emelianenko wasn't going to happen anyway. Too many contract hurdles to jump through. Both from the UFC and from Dream/Affliction. I don't think it would be that great of a fight anyway. I think Fedor would beat him pretty easily. But, that's just my opinion.

Lesner was too wide and too heavy for Randy. When Lesner had Couture on the ground you couldn't even see him... I can't wait for UFC 92! Rampage vs Wanderlei III

He's good for the boring-ass heavyweight division at least.

I know nothing about UFC so forgive me, but why are people knocking Lesnar's "skills" - was he not NCAA champ?

Sure he was, 8 years ago. MMA requires a well rounded fighter and the standard wrestling skills are not nearly enough.

Need to be a lot more well-rounded in MMA. Wrestling is just one, albeit important, aspect of the game. Not to mention, given his size and athleticism, he can get away with fudging the technique since he'll just bulldoze over people

I was watching the fights with a bunch of BJJ purple through black belts lol.

I agree with you that Lesnar is a freak show. Wrestling background or not it's pretty clear is M.O. is going to be ground and pound. He was much larger than Coture but knew better than to take him to the ground.

Being a wrestler doesn't make you an MMA champ. It can help, but you also have to have speed, athleticism, agility, good hands, takedown defense, submission defense (which Brock showed he didn't against Mir), and all other possible types of striking (elbows, knees, kicks).

He huge, he's fast, and he can wrestle. His boxing wasn't bad and he picked up the knees/elbows pretty well so I don't doubt his skills. I'm just sad to see Randy pretty much be done with his career.

I really like Couture both as a fighter and he just seems like a really nice guy, but he should have stayed in retirement. He's too old for the sport.

You got that right! I wonder what Brock would have done had the ref not stopped it and Randy was able to weather the barrage. He may have blown his load with that flurry. All in all it was an OK fight. Surprising in the middle with a somewhat predictable ending.

Peace

Well to be fair, when he came out of retirement he smashed through the "champ" then and held the belt for 2 more fights.

Randy's contract with UFC still has 1 more fight. Maybe a rematch fight? Tough decision for him.

What the hell difference does it make?

"Yeah he hit a homerun, but he didn't swing that hard, just hit the right part of the bat." It still counts and he still wins.
