Dang I got a new UPS driver last week and he is a lot slower than the old one. The old one would have packages here by noon at the latest. The earliest the new one gets here is around 4:30 looks like I wont get to play it till I get off work.

MY UPS driver came to my neighborhood last on his route, till one day I ordered 350lb of weights from Bowflex, they came in in 4 smallish very heavy boxes. he came my my house first and told me "hell I don't want to be unloading these heavy ass boxes at the end of my route and chuckled. I'd never had him come to my house at 10AM, it was always 5-7PM.

you should have ordered something real heavy to go with the game I have tested this once since, and again he came here first. Of course you can't always order something heavy. but when you do they automatically move you to the top of their delivery list lol

ive been playing it online since i got it

a bit laggy, but damn i LOVE the game

I <3 THQ, kinda sad i never gave their WWF games on the 360 a chance but i loved everything they did for wrestling on the N64. They've reached that peak of awesomeness yet again.

I heard they were going to add Ken Shamrock to the characters, but he would only have the ability to "talk smack", "block", "take damage," and talk more smack. He'd also have a button to "tell his corner to throw in the towel for him." And then after he lost, he would talk smack some more. I think they should have left him in because it would have been the most realistic character, but I guess it wouldn't be much fun playing him because you'd always lose.

One of my first exposures to UFC was watching KS take a foot to the side of his head, go limp, and collapse. Can't remember who the other fighter was. I've tried finding the footage on YT, but no luck.

Must be thinking of another fight. You mean Mark Coleman?

You must have started watching MMA after the turn of the century. Because back in the early to mid- 90's he was one of the best in the sport. The draw in the 2nd fight, against the greatest fighter of the era i.e. Gracie, many watching, including myself, felt he narrowly won based on doing more physical damage. He KO'd or submitted a bunch of cats back then as well.

He stayed in the game too long, that's all. Has happened to many fighters, with some it is the ego, others just have the fighting spirit, but their body can't cash the checks anymore. Shamrock's problem is likely both.

Anywho, I'll rent this soon.

Picked it up yesterday... only got to play a round in each weight class against my brother (who spent the last two days playing the demo as much as possible).

Best fight was when I was Amir and he was Anthony Johnson.. I kimura'd him about 45 seconds into the fight. He was pissed.

My brothers (both of them) started career modes last night. I'll probably do that tonight if I get a chance to play.

I got it last night. Played some exhibitions and the tutorial. I couldn't connect to or find any online games. Kind of disappointed about that but I'll give it a few days.

I started watching MMA since UFC 1. Ken Shamrock was a good fighter back then, but quite honestly, I think most people were intimidated by his Pancrase record and his physique and didn't fight him in the UFC like they would if they didn't know anything about him. The mystique of Ken Shamrock carried him for a looong time. He did have some great fights though. Shamrock and Pat Smith, Shamrock and Dan Severns. Great fights. But it was all down hill after that.

When Tito Ortiz (which I'm not a big fan of) fought Guy Mezger and beat his ass, Tito put on a shirt saying "Guy Mezger is my gay bitch." Ken jumped in demanding Tito take the shirt off. After that, pure shit talking from Ken. Tito then slapped him around, but that didn't stop Ken from spouting off. Tito then rematched him and beat him EVEN WORSE. Did Ken STFU? Hell no!

Ken also fought Kazuyuki Fujita (I love this guy!) in Pride which he proceeded to throw everything at Fujita including the kitchen sink. Well, Fujita kept coming at him like a freight train. Ken then told his corner to throw in the towel for him because he was exhausted. WTF? FU Ken! After you get through throwing everything you got at someone you just don't get to walk off.

I liked him, waaaaaaay back in the day. Now, not so much. Anyway, that is the end of my Ken Shamrock rant.

OK Jack, I get ya, you hate him for being an asshole.

I am going to try to get this tomorrow, I may buy it if it is rented out. Playing the demo last night with the tips from this thread, made it shine even more.

For those that have the full game, is there a create a fighter mode? And if so, how does it work? Are there stats you upgrade, etc...

Got the game yesterday and messed around with it. The tutorial is very in depth and thorough which is nice because I get the impression that this game really is a deep fighting game (if you wish it to be). Itching to start a career I stopped with the tutorial and stated a career and my gsh do you have a ton of options here. You bascially craft you guy from his toe nails to the hair on the top of his hear--it's crazy!

I did jump into an exibition match just to check out the games asthetics and the much mentioned hit detection and was blown away. As you play you will notice some swelling, bruising and eventually cuts begin to surface on you or your opponants face, sweat will slowly bulld and glisten on your fighter's skin and eventually will stream down their arms and faces--it's pretty wild.

But the hit detection is really spot on. I'm bored to tears these days by fighting games so we'll see if this is unique enough to keep me interested.

You pick 2 styles (ground and striking I believe) and then you learn new moves through training sessions in career mode. i.e. I'm at level 3 for kickboxing, so I can now to the superman punch and spinning kicks.

On another note, does anyone know how to get out/escape the fucking 1 armed collar-tie clinch? Its the one thing that I cannot figure out and is driving me nuts.

When you are down on your back, how do you get up?
Also, every time i go to take someone down, I end up on my back, is it my strength is not high enough to push them down on their back?

Do the tutorial on ground stuff, helped me a lot.

But there are 2 types of moves on your back, major and minor. The major one will allow you to roll over or get up completely depending on where the other guy is at and the minor ones allow you to get different positioning.

Hmm...I had no intention of even playing the demo but after reading everyone's reviews (and I'm a fan of UFC) I'll try out the demo. I generally hate most boxing games, and now fighting games, so we'll see.

After you learn the moves and how to use them somewhat effeciently, the game becomes much more enjoyable. Button mashing will get you nwhere but knocked out or into a submission.

i do however dislike how you can kick a guy upside the head, 4-5 times. and have them still standing.(just a minor thing)
the game is solid and well worth it.

My brother's created guy has lvl 3 Kickboxing (and it's maxed), and 70 or 75 base standing kicks (it's 80+ after bonuses) and usually 4 or 5 headkicks will KO or atleast knockdown his opponents. Especially if they're clean.

He was actually doing one of the classic fights yesterday.. Sanchez vs. Parisyan.. and he hit Parisyan with so many kicks to the body that Parisyan had a huge red spot with a big nasty bruise right in the middle of it. It was pretty cool since I hadn't been in a fight long enough to see that yet.
None of my fights have gone to decision. I either win by KO (or TKO) or get submitted. I'm good at major/minor transitions, but I suck when it comes to submitting the CPU.
