Because, being involved with a hit and run while under the influence of drugs and alcohol is going to look a lot worse than simple possession of weed and fleeing (and coming back when sober).

Not in my mind and I am assuring you not in the minds of many of those who are watching. Drugs can be personal problems or lapse in judgement but leaving the crime like that indicates lack of any character or integrity at all. Basically drugs gives him an opportunity to say look I am not that soulless but drugs were clouding my mind. That would make it possible for him to not go to jail but instead get major rehabilitation.

Jones was like -450 Johnson was like +400, not saying he couldn't have won because dude has sick power. But he literally only had one way to win. Jones is far ,ore well rounded, and -450 put him as a sizable favorite. You know who else has crazy punching power and was going to KO Jones? Glover, and we saw what happened to him. Jones is just too good.

I'd put Rumble over Glover any day, but Rumble wasn't going to beat Jones imho.

Makes sense. He didn't lose the title, it was stripped for conduct.

edit: that is assuming he comes back relatively soon (max like a year out of the sport). Nobody would question him being the number 1 contender if he got reinstated tomorrow.

right. if its within a year nobody will say much. but i doubt that happens. he is looking at some serious charges. Not to mention he needs to do some real rehab and not a 24 hour stint .

Aldo injured in training, fight not cancelled yet, but I suspect it will be. Fractured ribs, that's one way to make sure drugs are out of your system.

In light of recent reports regarding the status of UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo, UFC has received official medical confirmation from several doctors that Aldo did not suffer a broken rib. Following a review of the scans, it has been determined that the champion suffered a bone bruise to his rib and cartilage injury during training.

With this news, Aldo has expressed that he has every intention of facing Conor McGregor at UFC 189.

While Aldo has indicated that he will compete in Las Vegas on July 11, UFC has confirmed a contingency plan. No.1 featherweight contender Chad Mendes will face McGregor for the interim UFC featherweight championship in the event Aldo cannot compete.
