There was a video of Aldo cutting some weight with some type of oil and sitting in the bathtub. Did not seem pleasant but the huge weight that these guys drop seems even worse by far. More than a few years ago I said that excessive weight cutting was probably the most dangerous thing in MMA and more than a few fighters have died by now.

He was the champ, never lost the belt in a fight (just inactivity) and he just steamrolled the #5 guy.

I don't think you know what the term "gatekeeper" means.
DC is undefeated in the UFC, never lost his belt in the cage and was just said, starched the #5 guy. So no, the title shot is in line.

I think Rashad would be considered a gatekeeper at this point as Rampage was.

It may have been the best fight to make from a purse perspective but dont pretend he had it hard. Mir sucked at that point in his career. Henderson had to stop taking HGH so there was that as well.

Well, remember Jones was going to fight Gus, but Gus got hurt. Jones already beat Evans and Glover. DC was scheduled to fight Evans, but Evans pulled out due to injury. Then add the fact that Jones and DC have wanted to fight for years, and the match just makes sense. Some of this is DC's rep from heavyweight, but its more about injuries and the fact that Jones already destroyed everyone in the division and no one has done anything to warrant a rematch.

One problem is these guys aren't really fighting each other, so there is no clear contender. Glover is going to fight Phil Davis soon, and Gus was going to fight Johnson, but even that fight isn't going to happen now that Rumble has been suspended. Evans is out indefinitely due to injury. The only one in the top 5 that Jones hasn't already recently beaten and is ready to fight is DC.

These last few posts are confusing DC (daniel cormier) with DC (dominic cruz).

My response was about Cruz, though I think its fair to say the Cormier deserves his title shot too, Jones has beat the rest of the contenders, Gustaffson can wait for the rematch (though I'm pretty dissapointed the Rumble fight was signed but wont happen now that Rumble is on hold status)

When I skimmed I saw DC, then I started at your post with Rashad, DC, and gatekeepers and assumed all the previous DC references were about Cormier. My bad!
