DJ vs Dodson is more entertaining than I was expecting. Dodson has hurt DJ a number of times now.

yeha its a great fight. dodson has great hands. not sure if he has the stamina to keep the pace though in the last 2 rounds

I was surprised Dodson didn't pressure more when he had him hurt...too bad - good fight though

ROFL, the MMA after show on Fox, one of the guys just brought up Rampage going to Bellator to fight cans. He said he doesn't think that's going to happen.

shrug. sitting in guard controlling the fight is scored higher. you are doing something just as sub attempts. but you still control the action.

again no surprise he won
I agree that is the current perception, but I think it is bullshit. You being a wrestler, I can understand why you do not take issue with it. But, many BJJ players are the most dangerous from guard. You are not controlling the fight if you are consistently being forced to defend sub attempts. Because being on top can be a very defensive position when you have a guy with a very active guard. And when this sport evolves to the point that more judges are better educated about what they are watching, it will hopefully change how fights are scored.

Not surprised that Rampage lost. He's done.

Glad that Pettis won.

Page was fighting a legit dude, I'm not saying he's still a contender. But he looked pretty good, his head movement was nice, he just couldn't put it all together. He's far from done, he'd still be able to handle a lot of dudes who are not top 10 but in the top 20. Glover's a dude who finishes almost everyone in the 1st round. Page stood and banged with him and even got a few good shots of his own in.
Who else in the UFC LHW division could have made it to a decision with Glover? Maybe Shogun & Jones, everyone else gets put to sleep. Considering who he was facing, I think Page did well.

In Bellator he'd rip people apart, he still has maybe 2-3 more decent non contender years left in him.

Send him to Bellator so he can fight King Mo Lawal. They already seem to have some bad blood (whether it's real or manufactured).

Yeah, there are definitely changes that would make it a lot better. I think staying active on the bottom should be worth as much if not more than doing nothing on top.

The "one hand down" thing to keep from eating knees is total BS as well.

yeah they need to train judges better. Also when it comes to take-downs if the guy gets up within 20 seconds you shouldn't win the round because of the take-down (wich happens far to often).

If you can't get him down and control him

Damned, very nice to see you don't have the prejudice many wrestlers display.

And +1 about staying in tripod to keep from eating knees to the head. You should have to have at least 1 knee down. Knees to the head of a downed opponent made things a lot tougher on wrestlers too. I remember some serious damage coming from trying to stay with that single after someone sprawled on them. They proceeded to eat knees to the top of the head. Made for more exciting fights, because you could not hang on like a bulldog, without potentially paying a heavy price. It would make the current defense of hugging their leg when you get rocked and dropped a lot more risky too. But, no AC would sanction that here.
